When the doctor uses a cystoscope, which is like a microscope and inserts it through the urethra and into the bladder to be able to see your bladder. Hydrodistention is when water is used to fill up the bladder to it's capacity or more so it can be stretched. After bladder is stretched doctor can see any signs of bladder abnormalities like irritation, inflammation , pin point bleeding, ulcers This enables some people to have an improvement in symptoms and may help in increasing bladder capacity.
