Does anyone have problems with stiffness?

Whenever I am sitting down when I get up I can hardly move. It takes awhile for me to be able to walk. Sometimes, especially if I go and see a movie, I have a tough time walking down the stairs after. If I sit cross-legged when I get up I am all "locked up". My mother has osteoarthritis and my doctor was going to do some kind of blood test. He hasn't gotten back to me yet. Do any of you know what kind of blood test would test for that? I thought I would ask in case any of you had the same symptoms.

I get stiffness in my fingers in the morning pretty badly and it goes all the way up into my elbows if I sit a certain way for a while I do also get stiffness in my legs too. I do not know why though

Thanks for the replies. I also get stiffness in my fingers pretty badly. Sometimes I can hardly open or close my hands. I am not sure if it is fluid retention or something else.
