I haven't posted for quite awhile. I've felt so good that I'm on the go lots of the time. For a few days last week I felt pretty bad but that was because I got too cocky with the diet, and I had been travelling.
Last January, we had an Auction at school. I couldn't stay until the end, I was feeling so badly. I hurt all over. We had the auction earlier this year - in November - but I stayed for the whole thing, helped to clean up and still had some energy. I am so grateful.
Ic has made me much more reflective regarding others who are in pain. I realize folks can look the picture of health, but still have raging pain. I've been more patient with myself.
Of course, this year has been a dream at school. We have a fantastic faculty and wonderful children. It has been the best year in my 28 years of teaching/principaling.
I don't like to talk about the hurdles with non-ICers. But sometimes the things that make me happy sound so weird. Like, "This was a great day! I made it two hours without having to run to the bathroom!"
Last week I was at a conference. I was in a session that ran from 1:30 - 4:00. I was thrilled! I sat through the whole thing, didn't even need to leave at the break! Folks don't understand that kind of elation.
There is hope! Don't give up!

I'm glad you are doing better. I was hoping it was good news the reason you haven't been checking in.
I know your very busy woman and have loads of children to watch over.
Sending you hugs and prayers
Rhonda

All of the small victories mean so much. Like this year when I got mominated as a Disney Teacher of the Year. I think it meant so much to me because of the struggles I have had to go through to even get back to work, much less be working each day. I look at IC like a circle. Sometimes you are on a side that has you stuck there, but it will eventually turn and you will get to where you want to be. This was my case. I am grateful for every small moment I am not in pain. At times I find myself thinking, "Wow, if I felt like this all the time it is amazing what I could accomplish!" It gives me hope to keep trying and to keep looking.

I'm so glad to see that you posted! I had wondered what had happened to you, and I'm thrilled to see that things are going so well for you right now.

You're right, people don't understand our "accomplishments", but you're right, IC does tend to teach us more patience, and tolerance of others!

Take care, and don't be a stranger!

Hugs, Sandy

Good for you!

It's funny but people can take things such as not having to use the bathroom for granted. I know right now I miss the days when all I would do is sit around without having to worry! And I don't even have any pain!

But you are definetly right there is hope. It's only been 10 years since they figured out a treatment for this devastating illness, and I'm sure modern science will soon figure out a cure for it too. There is nothing but progress to be made.

Good luck to you and I hope you continue feeling better.

i can definitely relate to that elation - since having cystistat I can sometimes go 3/4 hours without fluids and visiting the bathroom - happens only once in a blue moon but is a great feeling - gives us hope that we can get better.
I sure miss those days when I didn't used to look out for all the toilets nearby!

I know when I run errands, one of the main things I'm going over in my mind before I even get out of the car is--"Where is the bathroom in this place?" :dizzy: I've even stopped at a different place on the way to use the restroom because I knew it was cleaner than the place I was going to!

Oh Yea! While we are on the subject of public toilets....

When you're exiting a stall, why oh why does the door pull towards you???
And oh my god....trying to get out of one of those stalls before the automatic sensor flushes the toilet (and taking anything else in the stall with it!) and spits everywhere-- is crazy :loco:

:toilet: True story---I was in a restroom that has those "monster toilets" last week and I could hear a little girll telling her grandmother she didn't want to go in the stall. She started crying and screaming! (at first I was thinking--what in the world is this woman going to try to do to this child??) but after a few seconds I figured out the precious little girl was terrified of the monster toilet flushing!! I never really thought about how terrifying these toilets must be to little children!

I hear you. Be able to say you haven't went to the bathroom in two hours is great. I actually got from 1 to 5 today which is the longest I have had in about 5 months. I'm sure it was just a fluke - but I can hope for another great day tommorrow. I need great days - my mom just passed away December 19 - talk about stress and I'm supposed to avoid stress.
