Hello Guys,
i am a 26 year old german girl, who just found your Forum.
Maybe you can help me cos the IC treatment in the u.s. is much better then in Germany.
I dont know if i have iC or not, but my symptoms are very similar. I have had bludder infections since 16. But after a antibiotic therapie they always stopped. Then I havent had a infection for about 8 years. And last year I had one again after so many years without it, and it hurted like hell.
But this time antibiotics didnt help anymore. no bacterias are anymore but still pain. I have no frequency, i ll go to the toi about 6 x times a day but drink at least 2 liters of water. the uro did a urodynamic, a zystoscopy (?) with taking out a something of my bludder to check for IC and lots of other things, and they told me, NO IC. But they dont know what it is.
Now i dont really know what to do, i have started with emilron by myself now and maybe try amitriptiyln, does anyone knows that medi ?
I have not a really worse pain, i mean i can live with it somehow, but its changing my whole life, my bludder always feels to heavy and when i press on it, it hurts, when i go downstairs i feel my bludder.
Do you think its IC ?
sorry for my bad english. i hope everything is understandable ;))
Thanks for your time.
Greetings from Germany.

you may have an over active bladdder. Going only 6 times a day is awsome.. I go about 20 a day.. I don't think I would have started Elmiron with out a doctors advisement.. sending you big hugs and hope they figure out whats going on soon.

I don't think it is overactive bladder or you would be peeing more frequently than six times a day. I believe it is possible that you have IC because you can have IC without a lot of frequency. I do. My main symptom is pain. The elmiron has helped my pain. I am virtually pain free now after being on it for 8 months (unless I eat the wrong thing or do something else stupid). I also take hydroxyzine and it has helped me a lot with the pain. Good luck to you with the elmiron - it might help you a lot after you have been on it a while.

I certainly think you should keep working with your doctor to see what is going on. Janie is right; you can have IC without urinary frequency, and you can also have IC without the classic signs of it in your bladder. However, I think you should keep seeing your doctor; taking medications without a doctor's approval is not recommended because you could possibly have underlying conditions that the medications could worsen. I hope you feel lots better soon :grouphug:

I agree with Jen. I thought you were taking the elmiron from a doctor's prescription. If you are not - that is probably not a good idea to self medicate.

Hopeful Ic

amntriptyline made my blood pressure go up and caused my heart to beat fast. It kind of made me crazy

What types of infection have you been tested for? Have you been tested for all types of STDs and mycoplasma infections?

have you thought of getting a second opinion - maybe you do have IC but the doctor perhaps doesn't know too much about it?

What about just regular cystitis, isn't that when you constantly get chronic bladder infections? I have very severe IC and never had a bladder infection but a lot of IC does start that way, so it could still be IC. What about endometriosis, my friend thought she had IC but really had endometriosis in her bladder, but that wouldn't really explain the infections, I guess. When it stopped going away with antibiotics did you still test positive for a bladder infection?
I hope you find a good doctor that can help you, be careful self medicating, its not safe. I will pray for you!
Oh, have you tried following the IC diet to see if that helps? I am severely sensitive to most foods, they cause a lot of pain.
