does anyone take

just wondering does anyone else take Avinza? or another type of morphene? ive been on it for about a week and it doesnt seem to help. how long do you usually take it? what dose? does it take awhile to start working? or is it like fast acting? just confused.i also take percocet for break through pain. thanks

Avinza is a long acting morphine which works for 24 hours at a time. I am on MS-Contin which is the 12 hour version. I take 30 mg of MS-Contin 3x a day to keep the med levels constant; however, the pill sizes are different with Avinza (I think 25, 50, and 100mg). You may want to give it a little more time, and if it still doesn't help you, ask your doctor to try something else. There are other things out there.

I Take mscontin one tablet every 8 to 12 hrs . and that helps my pain.

I jsut started Avinza yesterday. Today I woke up hurting like heck. I thought I my urine looked alittle red yesterday. Anyway I called the pain clinic, because I am hurting bad enough to go to the ER at this point. They said wait (story of my life) if it does'nt ease up by this afternoon call them back. The only thing I have for pain besides that is the Utram which is like water right not with this pain.
Anyway sorry to go on. I think it takes time. They told me to give it 10 days. Did you get the 10 day sample free pack or did you get 30 days?

Tracie: Ultram is very effective for some people. I find that if I take it when the pain is just beginning, it's most effective --- if I wait until the pain gets horrible, it can take hours for it to work. Don't get me wrong --- I believe it doesn't work for you --- but for some it works very well.

It has work well foe me. Just today it is'nt becuase I waited to long and it has gotten to bad. It has slacked off some since i posted that. Thank you though. I was upset when I wrote that becuase I could'nt find relief. Tracie

((hugs)) glad the pain eased up.. I only get darvocet for pain.. I have been taking vicoden, but that was given to me for my hysterectomy.

im sorry you were in so much pain, ive also tried ultram but it doesnt seem to work for me at all. but everyone is different so our bodies tolerate medications differently. i know how you feel when the medication that you have to make you feel better some how has stopped working. it can be very frustrating. just hang in there. give the medication a little bit to kick in. good luck hun

Have you ever had any moriphine type medicine before, like in the hospital? If so how did they work for you then?

I am giving it 10 days if it does'nt work I will be calling them. You might want to do the same. If it does'nt kick in call them. Medicine works different on every one.
