Vulvodynia??

Hey everyone!! Just firstly wanted to say thankyou so much again for all of your help on this board i really appreciate it. In fact i really doubt that i would be where i'am now if it were not for the help everyone on here has given me!! Kinda got some good news..well im not getting my hopes up for sure..But i kind of had a break through the other day at the doctors.... Its now that i have been told twice now that my symptoms sound like vulvodynia!! Unlike the IC'ers on here my symptoms are similar but also diffrenciate in many ways.... Its now that i have had 2 dr's that think i have this since now they have basically ruled IC out...(fingers crossed) .So at least i'am getting somewhere now i guess(hopefully if the dr's are on the right track!Since i have now seen so many of them) Anyways they were saying that the vaginal burning that i get and the itchness is because of that. They were also saying that the pain after i urinate or even before is because the urine irritates the vulvodynia symptoms and even for unknown reasons at all it burns as well. The doctors also noted that almost compleatly ruled out Ic was because i do not have any sensitivities to foods... And inside my vagina feels raw and inflammed kind of like sensitive to touch at times... In my last 7th cystoscopy under hydro the uro said that i had slight inflammation of the urethra but no IC signs..just wondering could the vulvodynia of flared my urethra up?? love karis xoxox :loco:

Hi there,

I am not really sure if it would have flared your urethra up. I have a form of vulvodynia (Vulvar Vestibulitis) and it is a pain! I hope with treatment you begin to feel better soon. For some more information, try the National Vulvodynia Association's website: http://www.nva.org/

Well it sounds like you're making good progress! The good news is that many of the drugs taken for Vulvodynia help IC too - so in the off chance that you have IC, the medications for Vulvodynia could help your IC.

Since all of our organs are so close together in that area, if one area becomes inflammed - others can too. So, I don't see it as an impossibility that you could have inflammation in the urethra. It could also be from all of the procedures that you've had done.
