Hello Everyone,
Well I just had my 6th rescue treatment this week. I go into the dr's office every wednesday for my treatments. So far I've noticed little to NO change. My primary complaint with IC was pain, I never had frequency or urgency problems, however i've noticed that i'm peeing less often since beginning treatments. My pain has not improved any!! I'm really hoping the next 3 treatments will make a differnce for me. Can anyone share their success with this treatment?

What meds were in your treatments? There may be better medications for pain that should be part of your treatments if pain is your biggest problem. Pain is/was my biggest complaint and Licocaine or something like it but stronger is an important part to me. Also, some poeple find that for the soothing treatments treaments more often can help get things started. Also, how long do you hold it? Are you doing any other treatments beside installations?

How would you descibe your pain...burning, stinging, sharp, ache, pressure, ???

I hope you feel better soon.

I've been using the rescue treatments of heparin and marcaine for about a year and half maybe even two years now. thanks to those treatments i had an eighteen month remission it did help with my urg/freg it also helped me with my pain issue. I'm now out of remission due to freg real UTI's which was first thought to be coming from the installments, but after going off of them for a few months we figure out it wasn't from that. My Uro and an Infection disease Dr is working together to try to figure out where all these uti are coming from.
but honestly the rescue installments has been a God sent to me all in all.
the heparin kind of works like elimron but works quicker to help heal up the pin point bleeding spots on the bladder lining the marcaine i use helps numbs my bladder to stop some of the pain.
hope you do get some pain relief from these also before its over. If you can keep it up I wish you the best in both your urg/freg and pain issues.
sending you hugs and prayers
Rhonda

Hi All,

I've been doing rescue treatments for at least a year now (off & on), but about twice a week for the past 6 months. Unfortunately I can't say they're helping at all...sometimes I have a few good weeks (or a few "ok" weeks) and most other times I'm in a constant flare...and this is how it's usually been for me (although getting worse over the years I'm afraid to admit) so no, I can't say they're helping.

Why do I keep doing them then? becuause I don't know what else to do!! (and I hope that maybe, eventually, they'll 'kick in') -- speaking of which, does anyone know how long it is recommended to continue the treatments if you don't see improvement? I've heard different things from different dr's...

Thanks,
Shell

I've done rescue instill as well with little or no relief. I'm on the heparin/lido and sodium bicarb. I end up havin more pain in the urethra than anything else. I'm very prone to infections as well so that's why I stopped. I hope you find relief soon.

I have had about 5 done now myself and don't think they help but seem to irratate all the muscles and everything the next day. I will keep doing them for now because the doctor is insistent on them but so far not really a fan.

Hope they help you soon!

I was averaging one a month with good success, but during this recent flare (2 months) I've had eight treatments with marginal success. My bladder feels okay immediately following the instill, but the problems start again once I void the meds. Sometimes I get urethral pain after an instill. Ah, I'm reminiscing about the good old days!

Just wanted to add -- I've been in a flare on a flare the past 10 days. The instills aren't touching the symptoms or discomfort. This is not a good sign.
