Hello

My name is Monica, I'm 23 years old, I'm from Spain. I have done a bladder augmentation, but I still with urgency and frequency. Is it possible to make an indiana pouch reservoir after a bladder augmentation? Thanks

Yes it is, my bladder was augmented in an emergency surgery to save my life. I still have very severe IC and I am scheduled to have my bladder and urethra removed in less than 30 days. It seems to be very common for the IC to come back or never even leave like in my case with an augmentation, they do not seem to work for IC :( But it is very rare I am told for IC to come back if everything is removed :)
Judith on this board also first had an augemtation, and then bladder and urethra removal, I am sure she too will respond. she has helped me greatly!
Best of luck!! Feel better!!

I am having my bladder removed next week...I don't see why that operation couldn't be done, they will remove your bladder and make you a new one with your intestine... :)

Before I had my Bladder removed they made a Bladder 3 times out of my Bowel. It is called a Cecum _Cysto-Plastic Bladder. It did not work for me so after 4 of those surgeries I had the Ileo-conduit. Still had Blockages and Now on My Transverse Colon as My Loop. No More Bowel to spare. But My Dr. did everything under the Sun to save My Bladder. No Hope the IC was to severe.

I think if you get a great urological surgeon, they can make an Indiana Pouch for you. Ask the doc if he could do a full cystectomy, this means they remove the entire bladder and then they make a new one out of a foot of your small intestine. If you want you urethra out too, ask if they do that. I know my doc in MA could do it!

I first had an augmentation, it did not work so I had my bladder and urethra reoved and was given an ileal conduit- whihc where you wear an external pouch to cathc the urine. I had that for 6 years and then switched over to the Indiana pouch, so yes it is possible! I think you will have the best result if they take out the bladder and urethra. Good luck! Judith
