My eyes are killing me. Does anyone think it could be dry eyes and what did you do for it. I can't have hardly any light in them as they burn like fire. I have currently on Colitis med. and also started DMSO 3 weeks ago. This is a fairly new condition. Could either of these do things cause buring eyes. HELP!!! I can't afford to go to the eye doctor for sometime.

hi big red.. I would do some research on the internet and see what you can find out.. Read the side affects, if they are not listed I would talk to your doctor about it.. in the mean time, get some eye drops for dry eyes.. hope you feel better soon.

Please check in with your doctor. I have a son-in-law who is an ophthalmologist and his advice for eye irritation is to use only plain artificial tears until you are able to see your doctor.

Could you possibly have a sinus infection? My eyes burn really bad when I have one.

My eyes are generally dry all the time. Eye doctor said that my eyes have trouble producing tears. He told me to put a warm wet washcloth over my eyes several times a day.

Bigred:

When you can go to an eye doctor you might want to have punctum plugs put in. My eyes became really dry after having IC for 2 years...possibly allergies and/or medications causing it. It is not painful and does not require you to be put to sleep. They keep your natural tears from draining through your nasal cavity. When that happens your eyes can become dry, itchy, and red. Not to say that an up all IC night does not contribute.lol I had mine put in 3 years ago. It takes one office visit. Only one has fallen out ever and was quickly replaced. I also use refresh tears. It lubricates the eyes so they are moistoned and don't burn.

I use Systane artificial tears, which are a little thicker than Refesh, which not everyone likes, but I love the feeling. I use the single use preservative free vials. I have always has a problem with dry eyes my whole life. I don't think that mine is related to IC.

Have any of you heard of Sjorin's Syndrome? (spelling?) Some people with IC have it. It is an autoimune disorder I believe in which the eyes don't produce tears. Check into it just to make sure. It sounds to me like maybe the medication is causing it.
