:) Hi, I have just made a candle with all the leftover bits of old candles, I melted all the wax, poured it into a clean milk carton, put a wick in the middle, let it set overnight, peel the carton off the candle and presto I got a new candle, have any of you tried this??

How exactly did you melt the wax?

:) Katrina, I just melted the wax in a old pot over a low heat, I'm sure there are other methods as well, but I found this way suits me.

Ps I bought a packet of 10 wicks in a craft store for $5.00.

We used to make "Ice Cube Candles" this way. We used a clean paper milk carton, put ice cubes in it (after getting the wick and whatnot in), melted our candle wax (always the recycled stuff, lol) and poured it in. The ice cubes would melt and when it was all set we'd peel the carton off and have a really cool candle -- like swiss cheese!!LOL

When my oldest son was about ten years old, he melted some candles into a milk carton and I helped him put the wick in. While I was taking a short rest, he plugged in the waffle iron and made a gorgeous candle by putting the candle briefly on the waffle iron pattern --- ruined the waffle iron for a long time though.

:) Donna, men and kitchen utensils don't go together, I seem to get my fryingpan ruined every time I let a male near it. haha

LOL, ok that's funny! Leave it to a guy to come up with a new use for the waffle iron! But you have to admit - very very clever!
