Ok, so i'm having surgery on the 23rd of December. RIGHT before Christmas. Then I have to be back at school the following Monday...am I going to be able to handle that or do I need to take school of for an amount of time? I'm hoping the procedure is not that big of a deal...will I be better by Christmas?
Thanks!

When I had a lap done I was fine a couple of days later, but seeing that you are having a hydro too, you might be in some discomfort. Ask for pain meds just in case..

:welcome: to the ICN!!!!!!!!
I have had the laproscopy...it left me a little soar but with rest and pain meds I was ok. Is this to diagnosis Endo...or is this to treat it?
It can take 2 weeks to fully recover from the hydro and how bad you are is often determined by how bad your IC is previously. People have returned to work after a day or so.
To be catious I would tell your teachers that you are having two surgeries and to be safe want to prepare for the possibility that you will need more recovery time.
There are others that have had both of these tests/surgeries together and if you search lap hydro together you may be able to find more info.
I hope that you recover fast and are able to enjoy Christmas somewhat! :) Please let us know how things go. :grouphug:
I have Endo and IC...please feel free to contact me if you need to.

when I had a lap done 11 yrs ago it took me 2 wks to recover . But it depends on what they find and are treating. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you have a short recovery period.

I would have a little concern with going back to school that quickly after a dual procedure --- you may end up needing to take a few more days. I'm surprised that there is a school holding classes the week between Christmas and New Years. In our section of the country schools are not in session that week.

we dont have school here usually...i am in college though, and was trying to fit in a "mini-mester" over the holiday break...its just a 3 week class...and with already missing friday for the procedure, i could not have possibly missed any other days...so i went ahead and got my money back for the class and will just have to take it another time...gonna go ahead and take the holiday to rest!
and to answer another question...its to see if i have endo but they have the laser standing by...so if i do have it, they will be able to fix it right then and there...i have the symptoms and my mom has had to have it operated on 5 or 6 times now...so there is a pretty good chance that i have it...
thank you all for your thoughts and prayers...i will let yall know how it goes!

I had endo for about 15 years and yes, they can treat it while they are in there. Post op there are some treatments if your endo reoccurs. Good luck, and I agree with not pushing it with that class.

Good Luck and my prayers are with you during your surgery. I had Lapo, then endo surgery and last but not least the IC was diagnosed. Please take the extra time to rest some afterwards. Any surgery is a stressor on the body and mind. I always tried to be super women and trust me from experience give yourself alittle down time to recoup. I did best with the hydro when they kept me overnite with the cath in and it gave the bladder time to rest after the procedure I had less pain.

I would definately take the time to rest and recover. I've had numerous laporoscopies for endo and although the doctors said I'ld be better in a few days it actually took a lot longer. I know that everyone is different.......but having both procedures at the same time warrants a lot of rest and pampering. hang in there.
