I just had my cysto yesterday. And much to my surprise, it was a much bigger deal than i had originally thought. After the procedure I had extreme nauseau (which could have been from the 2 percocets they gave me on an empty stomache). Also the pain I felt after urination was intense! All that combined with the blood in the urine has been taxing overall...
I'm concerned about the nausea since i can't even keep down bread and water, i'm worried about not being able to take antibiotics and getting an infection.
Has anyone else run into this problem? When will I feel like myself again?
thank you!

I become extremely nauseated if I take any kind of pain medication unless I take an anti-nausea med with it. The one I take is phenergan. My suggestion is to call your doctor and ask for something to help with the nausea.

I agree call the doctor and see if he/she can call anything in for the nausea. If you had the cysto/hydro done under sedation then the anthesia could also be causing problems to along with the pain meds.
It may take several days for you to feel better. With my 2nd one I was down for about a week or longer. But I also developed an infection from that one. But the first one I had I was down only a couple of days. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Hi,
Yes, it happened to me last week. I was given 2 darvocet and as I was getting ready to leave hosp. I started to feel lighthead and it took everything not to get sick in the car. But I did get sick later that evening. Next day I felt somewhat better and was able to eat and keep it down. But I thought I would take half of one pill that evening and the entire next day I was sick to my stomach. The pain med just does not agree and many years earlier I had taken vicodin and had the same reaction. Hope you procedure will work for you.

Thanks for all of your advice and help...
Can anyone answer how long i can expect the pain during urination and blood in the urine? It is oh so painful and is intense for about 30 minutes after urination too.
I'm assuming this is from the biopsy... any end in sight?

I had my first cystoscopy and hydro last Friday. I was terribly sick for about 4 - 5 days (Christmas was a complete fizzer) - nausea, body aches, back pain plus the urge to pee is worse and the burning more intense. I'm no longer feeling sick but the pain and urgency are still much stronger than before the procedure, it's quite hideous. Some people on the forum have said it can take a few weeks before you start to feel better.
I really wish you all the best and hope that you no longer feel nauseous, I stopped the antibiotics too but the doctor told me to perservere until I finished the course. Hopefully the pain will subside for both of us soon!

chernobyl, if you're having burning with urination, you could have an infection. I do think it's a good idea to be checked to be sure.

I am so sorry .
Pain medicine does me the same way.
Hydo always hurt before they help me.

I thought I may have had another infection but I got checked out and was given the all clear. The burning has subsided today and although I still can't wear any clothing that puts pressure on my bladder it is not throbbing all the time now, so that's an improvement :) I also read about the use of calcium citrate on one of the other threads and ran right out and bought some. I used it yesterday and again today and I don't know if it's a coincidence but today has been a noticeable improvement so I'm going to keep taking it.
This forum has been a Godsend, I've gotten so much useful and supportive information, you are all wonderful!
