Having procedure on Weds.

Just want to know what to expect afterwards as in pain wise, will I have a catheter in to go home with? will there be blood when I urinate? will it hurt worse then usual? fill me in pleez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my cysto/hydro went quite well. i did not have a catheter in when i went home and i did not bleed at all..the first couple of times you urinate afterwards burn a little bit but I didnt have much pain. I had the spinal anesthesia instead of general and had a little backache from the needle. but for me it was not a bad experience at all.....very little pain for me.

First off I hope your procedure goes well and wish you a speedy recovery.

I would suggest that you might need a few days of rest afterwards. Usually 2 or 3 at least and sometimes more. Some people do have a cath when they go home, but I do not think this is the norm. I have had 2 cysto/hydro and neither time did I have to have a cath. You might bleed a little the first couple of times going to the bathroom and you might hurt a bit the first time you go afterwards. Be sure the doctor sends you home with some antibotics and some pain meds for a few days. My first hydro went soomthly but the 2nd one I got a UTI and then a yeast infection from h***.

After I've had hydro's it hurts to pee for a couple of days & there is a little blood. I always get antibiotics, pyridium plus, & percosets to take home. I've never had to have a cath afterwards. Good luck! I hope you recovery quickly & don't have much pain. Be sure to let us know how it went when you feel up to it.
