Can anyone educate me as to why I am feeling a specific pain in one area and not my overall bladder?

The pain is on my right side near the bottom of my bladder. if you were to lay your hand on the right side of your bladder below your ovaries, the pain would be located near where my fingertips are. It aches all the time. It's like a pulling sensation, tightening mixed with dull pain.

If I press on it when lying on my back and push it will sometimes emit a sharp pain. I do not feel any lumps underneath the skin. I just can't figure out why it hurts in this one spot only.

I had a hydrodistention in February when i was diagnosed. I asked my Uroligist to check that area for me. She never told me she checked it. She said i have glomerations on 80% of my bladder, but no Hunner's Ulcers.

I'm puzzled and scared of Ovarian cancer. I know i have Ovarian cysts. But this seems too low for Ovaries. Could it just be the pain that is associated with IC?

Thanks so much,

Kathi

I have ovarian cysts on both ovaries & when I started feeling pain on my lower right side I thought it was my ovary. It turned out to be IC for me. I went & had an ultasound done by my gyno to make sure it wasn't anything else. When in doubt, check with a doctor. Kathi

Thanks Kathi.

I have had several ultrasounds along with transvaginals detecting the cysts on both ovaries as well as fibroids inside my vagina, however, this pain I feel is much lower than the area where my ovaries are.

I have an appointment to see my obgyn next week. If this pain is IC how will we know the difference between that and anything that has to do with ovaries?

I am going to suggest an MRI. Have you ever had an MRI in the pelvic area and does it indicate anything related to IC?

thanks,

Boni

Your obgyn should be able to identify the source of the pain. It does sound like it could be that your IC bladder is tender.

Thank you Donna. I appreciate the advice. I would like to have an obgyn that is also a urologist and is familiar with IC. They have a very good one in Baltimore, but, it is a great way for me. I just may switch.
