Hi everyone,
I have a very very unusual pain.I think it's the labia area, mostly the left side.
When i press on it the pain radiates to my er anal area.(sorry for being so gross, there's no other way to describe this)When i exert myself with housework or exercise the pain increases and radiates to my left thigh.
I donno what could be causing this.I had contipation and took some home laxatives last week and after that astarted noticing this pain.
I went to my family doc and she says it could be bcoz of contipation as the nerves are connected, but it's been almost a week and the pain is still there.
There is no bump or swelling.
She has ordered an abdominal xray to see if the bowels are fine.
I have not been diagnosed with IC yet.
Has anyone experienced such pain?
Please help.
Sabin

Hi Sabin, I am glad you talked to your doc about it! I had that sort of thing right before my IC dx going on. It was awful, the whole vulvar/labia area would just throb and ache. I explained it to my girlfriend and hubby that it felt like I was kicked in the crotch area. I couldn't even sit normal for a long time, I had to perch up on my feet. I did find out that cold packs worked wonderfully for me. Really helped sooth things. My doc had mentioned for me to keep an eye on it, as he was thinking "engorgement", and I did notice when it happened things seemed or at least felt swollen. But, as I got my bladder under control that was one of the first symptoms to go away -- thank goodness!!!!!

Hugs!

I've had a similar pain before. Often it is nerve pain that is being referred from somewhere else (bladder, bowel, etc). It can also be pain from a trigger point in your pelvic floor muscles, which can get strained during constipation. I am glad you talked to the doctor though, and I hope you find out what's going on :grouphug:

Thanks Traceann,Sarojini and Katrina
Your replies have put me at ease.
I too hope this could be due to constipation.Today have pain in my entire left leg.I tend to think about the worse.
How long do you think this pain will stay if it's only nerves and constipation?I am unable to do anything much around the house.
Traceann, what is engorgement? I do not have throbbing pain but mostly when i press there and it radiates to my thighs mostly.
How long do you think this pain will stay if it's only nerves and constipation?
Thank you once again everyone,
Sabin

I have labia pain, but think it is VV. It is more of an irritation/burning than a throbbing type pain.

Hey Sabin! Sorry it took me so long, just got back into town last night... My doc said it was like a swelling of the area -- I suppose it would be likened to an erection in a man, only in our parts, lol. It was very uncomfortable, felt "puffed and swollen", and then as I said sometimes it throbbed. He was never really sure as of course, whenever I was in there it was feeling and looking fine...ugh. I now think it was just carry-over from my bladder and all the nerves being affected. :) I think it couldn't hurt to ask your doc about it, I tended to blame every little ache and pain on IC and heaven forbid anything else be acting up or whatever! LMAO!!! :)

Hugs!!! Hope it's giving you a break too!!!!
