Elavil and high blood pressure?

I have taken elavil for 10 months with good success but gradually my blood pressure and anxiety levels have sky rocketed I think elavil is the cause what do you think? I am now looking for a new treatment from my uro. I am pretty sad and concerned about it because elavil worked so well and finances too. Elavil was so cheap!

I had the exact opposite reaction, if you will, while on Elavil---my BP was lower (i'm already on BP meds) and dont recall any anxiety issues.
We all react differently so its possible that the Elavil is the culprit to your sudden problems. I think though before stopping the meds I'd discuss reactions with the pharmacist since they have ALOT more knowledge than the DR's re: medications

I only took elavil for a few days and my blood pressure shot up to 210/110 --- dangerously high. My doctor said it's an unusual reaction, but it can definitely happen.

When I was on Elavil, I had higher blood pressure and heart palpitations. A lower dose relieved this, but the symptoms only went away when I went off the drug.

Thank you for the info . I was taking 50 mg and last night I took 25 mg because the dr is weaning me off of it and I already see a big difference! I am so mello and less freaked out I would love to get my blood pressure checked today!
