My wife has been suffering with IC for three years now and is getting to the end of her rope. She had the interstim device implanted four weeks ago and is still having alot of pain at the IPG site. Has anyone had pain that long or is that normal for the healing process? The device has not even been turned on yet due to the post op swelling has not gone down enough to activate it.Thank you for any comments.

I would let the doctor know about the pain behind the IPG site. I have the interstim in and did have any pain behind my IPG site after implant. I hope she gets to feeling better. Deborah

I also agree. I have had my interstim since 9/01 and I did not have pain like that at the site. Especially since she has not had the unit turn on yet due to post-op swelling. I do not think she should still be in pain like that after 4 weeks. Please have her call her doctor as soon as she can. I will pray for the best for you and your family. I hope the interstim will work as good for your wife as it did for me.

I DO have pain at my ipg site, and I did at 4 weeks post op. Mine is like pain form the scar tissure, if that makes sense. You can read my Interstim story at http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/nina0702.html
hope you get everything worked out, The swelling concerns me, I dont think mine was off for that lone, like 3 weeks I think. but for me the pain there , lasted about 6 weeks, although the other scar hurt worse then. My ipg site still bothers me now, but it has done wonders for my IC> I am pleased with it. Hope this makes sense I am tired right now, but thought I could help out here. Hope everything turns out ok! Hugs, ICNNINA
With my original surgery in 1999 I didn't. With my revision in late 2001 I have developed pain. More of a constant ache and throbbing than actual pain. As long as the area is NOT red and NOT hot she should have it looked at during her next appt. Mine has ALOT to do with what the weather is doing confused.gif confused.gif
You are a great guy to be posting this for your wife....hope she doesn't mind that I'm passing on a little
