I'm having my first significant flare up in 3 years. I had almost forgotten what it was like. I had stopped taking my Elmiron probably about 2 years ago. I still have some left so I have started taking it again, though it expired this past July. I know I need to call my doctor but I have a new doctor now since I moved. I am living on a military base and getting an appointment is hard to do because they have very specific hours and I am usually working, in school, or at my internship when they are available. They also do not have any weekend hours. It's Thanksgiving so I know I won't be able to get in today. What should I do? The frequency is keeping me awake and I have pain right at the end when I pee. All things I had in the past. I was put on Ditropan for frequency last time, but of course I don't have that now. Any suggestions would be greatly accepted. :help:

You may have a UTI.

If it's really bad and you can't stand it anymore you could go to the ER. They will do a urine culture (make sure you ask them to culture it not just analyze it) You could ask for some Ditropan, Pyridium Plus for the burning, and an antibiotic in case it might be an infection. They might give you enough to get you to your doctor next week. If it's not an infection, there should be a urologist oncall for the ER that you could talk with about having IC and not having your meds.

I've been to the Hospital many times during the Holidays and I find that the doctors and nurses seem to be nicer and more compassionate becasue it's a Holiday.

I hope there is an explanation for this! I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks! I'm actually getting ready to go to the ER right now. I'm hoping they will be able to at least give me something to get through till I can see my doctor. Thanks again for the advice!
