My daughter has a school project that she's supposed to finish over Thanksgiving break. I am at a loss of how to do this & was hoping that some of you could share your ideas. She has to make a 3D model of a flower. The model can be constructed with any choice of materials. It must include the following structures & they must be labeled: petals, sepal, stamen, anther, filament, pistil, stigma, style, and ovary. Help!!!!

If you have any fabric, small pieces of different colors, such as yellow and green. Even something like modeling clay could work.
I do quite a few craft projects so I have lots of things that could work.
Another thing that might work very well is using plain colored construction paper and those sticky things that are made to stick posters to walls to give the picture depth --- or small pieces of cardboard to give it depth. The way to do that is to use a tiny piece of cardboard and stick it to the back of a cut out leaf, for instance --- then stick the cardboard to the background. The leaf then stands out away from the background. You can keep adding the other parts until the project is done.
Feel free to send her to my house and I'll be happy to help.

She'll be on the next plane! :)
I'd probably suggest that craft foam that comes in different colors? The kind that is about as thick as cardboard? I bet those would make really pretty leaves and petals. Maybe use pipe cleaners for the stem.

My son had to do a similar project a few years back. I found modeling clay made by CRAYOLA at a crafts store. They come in separate colors, and almost feel like playdough. They are individually packaged, and are soft, pliable, easy to use. You can mold them any way you like, and mix the colors--(red + yellow= orange).. GREAT STUFF!! He had to do a model of an atom and DNA... this stuff was great because it was so pliable. Hope this helps... liz
