I keep getting calls that say not Provided, but, its a 1800 number..... So yesterday I answeded an it was the national Firemens fund, I asked polietly how she got my number, and she said its on a list.. I asked what list.? I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST.... and she said we would like you to donate bla bla bla... I polietly told her I was not able to make any donations at this time, but, was accepting them.. and she stumbled over a pardon me? I then told her to take my number off there list. :biglaugh:

When I get calls requesting a donation, I just tell them that I do not do business over the phone and if they want me to consider making a donation, they need to contact me by mail. And I always ask that I be removed from their call list. I rarely get the calls any more.
We are on the "no call" list too, but charitable organizations were calling --- plus the scam artists.

tigger_gal: that is very funny. I love tripping them up and asking THEM questions. You know damn right well they are reading from a tele-prompt and If you throw a wrench into it, there all "WHAT?" You wouldn't believe some of things me and my husband have come up with. :biglaugh:

:lmao: I love your response! David Letterman has a GREAT response for telemarketers. "Well, I'm eating dinner right now, can I have YOUR home number so that I can call YOU back?"
I'm on the do not call list as well and occasionally get the same fireman's fund. They do not let you get a word in---so I quietly hang up.
I don't want to be rude, but I will contribute to the charity of my choice when I choose to contribute. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!
Ok, ya got me on a roll here.
Ya did good with that woman LOL!

There was a little blurp on TV a while back that said when you get these unwanted calls, ask them to hold the line please. Then walk away from the phone and don't return for about five minutes.

I'm also on the do not call list. I agree with what sandy said they don't let you get a word in until there finish with what they have to say. So when can we expect to get your check for ten dollars or would you like to give more?
I have told them to hold please and walk away from the phone and not return, but once when i did return ten Min's later that one guy was still waiting on me to return.
That is when I said I'm sorry I'm unable to help and I'm also sorry I do not give any personal information on the phone unless I'm the one doing the calling. Please take me off your list.
which i really don't think it does any good to tell them not to call back they still do.
My dad's girlfriend went down to wally world and got her a phone that zaps telemarketers from calling her if its coming from a eight hundred number it zaps them or an unknown number it will zap them so her friends know they must unblock there numbers or they will get a loud buzzing sound in there ear. Trust me I got the buzzing in my ear a few times not thinking to unblock my number it only took a few times for me to remember that. lol that sucker is loud I thought it had busted my good ear drum.
I will write down what each of you have done. You all had GREAT ideas on how to try to control these calls well.
Even when cell phone provider calls me they get so upset because they want me to give them my last four digits of my s.s.n over the phone. I just laugh at them and tell them if they are my cell phone provider then they would have that information I will not give them NO INFO. on over the phone about me what so ever they should have all that info. on file. if not oh well they should had gotten it when i signed the contract. If they need any info. Then they can get in contact with the place i pay my cell phone bill at and they can ask me the question.
This has happen for two mths in a roll. I believe there getting the idea now to leave me alone. it has took me a long time to fix the mistakes on my credit report. I don't want to go threw that heck again.

lol.. I can hand your number out to scary looking people if you like :biglaugh:
he he he just kidding..
Yeah, in the last 2 weeks, I've gotten 4 telemarketing phone calls in the classroom where I teach.
I've asked the school secretary why these calls are being put through & she said that the telemarketers must be tricking the students who answer the switchboard by saying they are family members.
I've told these people that the fact that they have interrupted the instruction of 30 children is my main reason I will never do business with them & to please remove my name from their list.
Astonishing!
