Well here it is...that time in my life that I knew would eventually come but didn't realize it would happen so soon. My first holiday season without both of my children with me. For those of you who don't know, my oldest son (he's 20) moved to CO with his girlfriend about 6 weeks ago. As I went shopping for my Thanksgiving dinner this year I realized it was only gonna be me and my hubby as the youngest (19) is going to be working. They grow up so fast. For those of you with the young ones...just a reminder that even when they are driving you crazy this time of year remember it won't be long and they will be grown and you will want those..20 is it christmas questions a day back. Thanks for listening..

I have to remember how difficult it must have been for my parents. In June of the year I graduated they had three children at home --- by the end of July all three of us had moved --- two to the west coast, and I went to the east coast. I grew up in Nebraska.

As a stepparent I have a different take on the empty nest. This is my stepson's first year in college. After 16 years of having to deal with who's year it is and having to spend part of many holidays doing the parental switch, it's nice to not have to worry about any of that. My stepson has many people vying for his time (us, his mother's family, his girlfriend and her family...) that we've told him we'd like him to stop by and visit on the holiday, but I'm not going to stress about it. If he shows up great, if not I'll just focus on the rest of the family that is coming for dinner.

Awwwwwww, I know the feeling. Well, sort of. My oldest just got accepted to college for next year. This is the last year he's going to be home full time--he's only going a few hours away to school, but still, hes going away :(

My other 2 are 10 and 12 (almost 11, and 13--in January) and I've been thinking about what you said all morning---how fast it goes....

Ok, now I'm sniffly....see what ya did!! :)

I hope you and your family have a nice day tomorrow.

Hugs, Sandy
