I went to sleep last night at 9:45 and woke up this morning at 8. This has been a pretty common occurence lately. I also fall asleep during the day. I'm down to two Elmiron's a day, but I'm still exhausted.
I do eat enough protein.
I think the caffeine deficiency may also contribute.
Any other ideas/suggestions for how to get some energy back?

I'm going through the same thing right now. So, unfourtunatly I have no advice. I sleep well at night, but still end up tired throughout the day. Hopefully, someone will be able to give us both some advice.

I just got diagnosed and have been on the med for a couple of weeks now. I have to go home at lunch time from work and take a nap. I can't make it thru the day. I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. I also just cry for no apparrent reason throughout the day and can't stop. Along with that also have had constant tightness, like a charly horse feeling in my thighs. Oh did I mention getting nausous too? I feel like I am going crazy and I start my bladder instillations right after thanksgiving. I guess this will get worse? Help anyone, my husband's shoulder is constantly wet.

I suggest you check in with your doctor to see if he/she can determine what's causing the fatigue.

I also feel very tired during the day and I get enough sleep. I have no trouble at all falling asleep at night. If I lay in bed it might be 10 to 20 minutes and I will be sleeping.
Lisa...I used to wake up during the night and couldn't go back to sleep. It eventually went away not totally but it is rare now. I would also cry for no apparent reason and that finally went away. For some reason I couldn't go to church without crying through the whole service. I do not know why this happened. This did get better. I no longer cry for no apparent reason. I totally understand how you feel. I had a very good friend that I could talk to and helped me through that. If you would like to PM me you can. Maybe we can talk online. Don't give up.

Is it possible that you have CFS?

Is it possible that you have CFS?
I don't know what that is. Can you explain or point me somewhere I could read about it?

Hi everyone,
I think CFS = Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Also, Elmiron makes me extremely tired (which is a rare side effect). The hormones in birth control might be an issue too. Finally, my husband has sleep apnea (so he gets lots of sleep, but feels almost worse when he wakes up and falls asleep during the day too). You might want to look into any one or all of these (and talk to your Dr. too). I hope that you'll be feeling better (and well-rested!) very soon.
Best wishes, little bear
PS Cramps in the legs may be a sign of potassium deficiency.

Chronic fatigue syndrome can be an associated condition with IC. Here's the site of the CFIDS Association of America:
