:) Hey I'm home tonight, not doing well but wanted to let ya'll know that I made it through my appointment. They found infection in the socket at the root of the tooth so they had to place me on antibiotics. They say even though I was sedated I looked them square in the eye but I have to say I don't remember anything. The bad part is, I'm a smoker and because it's on the bottom, they told me not to smoke (TOTALLY HARD!) Bottom extractions def hurt worst than the top ones, I'm really in alot of pain tonight. As long as I heal up before Turkey Day. I'll be eating baby size bites of everything but at least I'll get to try everything. :biglaugh: I hate the post-flare of the novacaine and all. Hopefully I can sleep tonight and tomorrow will be a little less painful day. Keep me in your thoughts & prayers....

Just a tip from an ex dental assistant, please don't smoke, that will give you excruciating pain and a dry socket in no time.

Not to be pushy or anything, but hey, if you have to not smoke because of the extraction, may be you can five it up for good and help your bladder too. Just a thought.

Hugs,

Sometimes being forced to not smoke is just what it takes to quit entirely. And Babs is right when she says smoking can lead to a dry socket and really bad pain.

I appreciate your support. Thanks! I've been doing my best not to smoke, I broke down a while ago only because of the withdrawal is sinking in. It didn't even taste well so it went out faster than I lit it up. ;) I've been trying over the past few weeks to taper off - I'm doing really well.

My mouth hurts horribly today. Lots of ice packs being used. They had to put stitches in it because the socket was so large and had to do some cutting. It's gonna be a while before this one heals up.

I'm starving. I want something other than mashed potatoes, shakes or broth. Isn't that always the way, when you want something you can't have it. But then it's probably mind over matter.

Thanks to you all.
