Question / Cancer?

I'm newly diag. with IC.. A friend here at work was getting some information for me from her mother, who is a nutritionalist about my diet questions etc. Her mother works for a doctors office and she talked to her doctor who proceeded to talk to another doctor who was supposed to know more about IC. Well she has came back and told me that they are saying that IC can be pre cancer. Now I haven't read that information anywhere, and I've done alot of research for myself so I'm just wondering if these people know what they're talking about. Has anyone else been told by a medical professional that this condition could be pre cancer?

I don't mean to alarm anyone else.

My urologist told me that it "used to be the thought" that in men, IC is a pre cancer condition. I had been told the same thing and asked about it. He assured me that this is no longer considered. Cancer is one of the things that are usually ruled out as a part of making an IC diagnosis; and I was very relieved to know it was ruled out. I do know that bladder cancer can have some of the same symptoms as IC and that's why it can be important to have the testing done.

Basically, what I think is that you were given some misunderstood opinions.

NO WAY! I drilled all of docs about this as I am Cancer phobic. They all said NO

No way is IC pre Cancer. My mom has had it for 37 years.
