Leslie will have all the info on me and know how to get a hold of me..
I have no clue whats so ever how long it will be before I can sit back here at my pc.. I know at least 2 or 3 days... so behave, while I am out :biglaugh:
I am trying to find a lap top I can borrow for a couple of days, but no one will give it up... I called my ex and if his wife don't have a pissy fit he might loan me his... still waiting on a return call. but can only guess she delted the call, she dose that often!

You very likely will not need your own nighty --- the hospital ones make it much easier for nurses to care for you. About all you will need is a robe, slippers, maybe a book, but you'll probably be to sleepy to do much. I do take my own toothbrush & toothpaste because I don't like what the hospital provides. Most hospitals have TVs in patient rooms. I take less and less every time I go to the hospital.

will I bleed after? and if so how long?

What? Phone (local calls) & tv's have always been included in my hospital stays.

sanitary napkins - I always take my own because the hospital ones are huge like diapers

a special pillow - I like having my own pillow from home & it also helps with the car ride home if you press it against your abdomen. It helps the "jiggling" when you hit a bump in the road.

extra batteries - for the game

I think I bled for maybe a week afterwards - very light bleeding.

OK, so take 2 seek a word books and forget the TV!

Definately take a robe because they will make you walk up and down the halls before you go home.

Easy clothes to go home in, preferably a loose dress that buttons up the front so you won't have to bend. It'll be your best friend over the next week or so. Shoes that slide off/on so you don't have to bend to get them off or on.

I pre cooked some meals so it would be easier on my hubby to take care of me and the kids when the time came. I also put fresh linens on the bed the morning I went to the hospital.

I also took a cup that has the lid and bendy straw so that I didn't spill drinks on myself when I was laying in bed. It was also useful at home so that I didn't have to sit up everytime I wanted a drink. Of course I had an abdominal hysterectomy where I was cut from hip to hip and sneezing alone would put me into tears!

Best of luck tigger!

P.S.-Don't forget to take your interstim manual because the staff will be asking lots of questions about it.

I have never heard of the TV and telephone costing 9.50 a day. I always assumed it was included in the nightly stay. After all that cost a arm and leg anyways. HOW RUDE of them to charge people. Like Donna said you will most likely be pretty sleepy. When I had mine I dont remember much of the first day....Hope all goes well.

ME ME!!!!!! Don't forget to pack me in your bag ( I"d like to see me trying to get my butt in a bag :cussing: ) Caution I may have to sneak out of the hospital & check out a bit of your country side, but promise I will be back in time for the trip home.
Just wanted to wish you good luck & hope you heal quickly.

I needed nothing. I did take some comfortable clothes for the trip home (lounge pants and tshirt). Oh, you might want to buy either a bra that hooks in the front or go without. My boobs were HUGE the day after my surgery and trying to get into my bra proved pointless so I came home flippin' and floppin'..haha...Re: the robe--you can always put on a 2nd hospital gown (like a jacket) when you have to walk the halls--this will keep your rear-end from shining; and should you bleed or spill something it'll be on the hospitals gown(s) and not your own.
The one thing I did take and glad I did was my own feminine pads. The ones the hospital use are quite large and uncomfortable. Once i could get up I put on the underwear (very LARGE, STRETCHY, and COMFY) the hospital provided and my own pads

wishing you an uneventful surgery/recovery

I usually just wear something like sweats to the hospital and then wear the same thing home. I have even been known to wear my robe home! You aren't going to need much in the hospital unless you are there for several days --- you'll do more sleeping than anything. At the hospital where I go there's a paper boy who goes through the hospital every morning selling papers so I plan to have enough money to buy a newspaper.

Cindy,

I used to work on a GYN post op unit. pm me or email me if you've got any questions. Bring your own gown, you wont want it or need it the first day, but you will be up and about the 2nd day and it helps lift the spirits and make you feel a bit normal to wear something of your own.

I can tell you from the recovery room to discharge how things went where I worked if you've got any other questions....and they do give you those mesh panties to put the sanitary pads in, but everyone is right, bring your own from home, and if you can, get the super long ones with wings......they hold in place better.

Are you having this done vaginally?
