Hello all,
I'm wondering if I need to keep in the fridge my bottle of sterile water that I use as part of Marcaine/Heparin/Sodium Bicarbonate home instillations.

If I do have to keep the sterile water in the fridge, would it be ok in the morning to pour what I need into the container I mix the cocktail in & put a lid on it, til I use it in the evening, so it would be room temp?

I'm wondering if the discomfort I feel while holding the solution is from the shock of cold water hitting the inside of my bladder.

Thanks!

I never refrigerated mine when I was doing home instills. I wouldn't mix it hours ahead; there's too much opportunity for contamination. I did read the label to be certain it didn't need to be refrigerated.

Ok, much more comfortable without being so cold.

i have did it both ways. I started off putting it in the frig. because I liked the cool feeling in the bladder when doing the treatments, but its been a long time since I've done that I just keep it in the bathroom at room temp with my other installment medicine. I believe its okay to do them either way.
if the water needs to be kept at one temp it should say so on the bottle.
it should be fine either way as long as the date is still good on the bottle.

I don't refrigerate any of the components of my instills. They are stored at room temp in the pharmacy, so I store them at room temp here. As long as you use them by the expiration date on them you should be just fine :)
