Worried about my son..... :(

I don't know if this is really worth worrying about ... yet... but my son, who has always had alot of frequency and trouble holding his pee, has also now developed pain with urination after eating fries with vinegar, twice now.

I have always worried that I might pass on this dread disease to my kids. I know a doctor is the one to ask about this, but my family physician is not too bright, and my son is only 11!

Any replies would be appreciated. Just worried......

Can people with normal but maybe sensitive bladders just irritate them now and then and NOT have to have IC?

It's definitely possible to have some foods or drinks causing bladder discomfort in a normal bladder. I used to have a neighbor who couldn't drink coffee without great discomfort --- it was the only thing that bothered her.

I agree with Donna.. I don't think it would hurt to see if you can get him in to see your uro. this way you will know for sure.

I dont many men who have IC but it does happen. My friend's 20 year old son got diagnosed last year and it was due to my insisting that he get tested for IC. None of the uros would do it; they said he was too young and a male so that wasnt the problem, turns out it was. I think you should have a uro do a hydro on him just to make sure.
