I have had 3/4 infections after 4 instills - the last one lasted 2 weeks as I was resistant to the first set of antibiotics, it was only during my period.
Should I avoid instills at this time because of risk of infection.Have mine on Monday and don't know whether to postpone it a week or not. I realllllly don't want another UTI!

If you're having your period, you might want to postpone it.

I do not do instills during my period. I figure since I'm allergic to 5 different classes of antibiotics, I only want to use an antibiotic if absolutely necessary, so I don't take chances.

My Dr. told me that doing the DMSO durring my period was OK

One of my doctors said it was okay, the other one said absolutely not. If you have a history of UTI, I'd really think about it.

Hello, Sweetangel.

I understand your doubt if you want to continue with the instillations or not, having UTIss o frecuently with them ... I'm really sorry.

I was just to ask you about the period also. I've had my first instillation of Cystistat last Friday. I'll be on my period in a couple of days, and I'm going to have my second instill again on this Friday. I was wondering if I should change my appointment or not. As I see, it depends on the doctors and how we are sensible to the UTI...

My first instillation was not as painful as I was afraid of. I asked him if I'd better take antibiotics... He said there are no need to take them. It's the third day today. I feel some desconfort in my urethra area. I'm afraid that I'm getting UTI like you... Also since that day, I feel so tired and I had to take some sleep in the afternoon both on Friday and Saturday. Well, really, I was better before the instillations... I hope this pain and tiredness pass away tomorrow...

Cystistat works on 52% of cases, I read in somewhere. I've already started to think I'm the rest of 48%... When I'm with the pain, it's so difficult to think possitively..

Well, we'll wait and see...

I did phone the doctor before the instill today and he and the nurses all said to come in regardless of the period.
This time they gave me a whole course of antibiotics to take regardless of whether I have an infection. I feel that's a bit much as I don't really want to be taking that many antibiotics but still if it helps.....

turns out I have an infection anyway but they still did the instill and gave me antibiotics!
Maybe it was a low grade infection and that's why I have been having the urethral spasms and pain when going to the bathroom!

Oh, so you did have the infection. It's better to know it so that now they really know how to get rid of it from you! I don't want to have an infection, but when I have a lot on pain, I always hoped that I had one. So that I can take the antibiotics to cure and to have the relief...

Don't worry for answering me about the period on my thread. I hadn't read your post here when I wrote another post.

Have you all put the Chrsitmas tree already?
In Spain, since it's a Catholic country, there weren't any customs to put the X'mas trees before. Neither Father Christmas... (We celebrate more the three wise men for ther 6th of January and we used to receive the presnts only from them.) But every year more and more people prepare the presents for the X'mas eve and decorate the house with x'mas tree. Also every year we receive more presents on the Christmas Eve as much as the three Wise men's day...
