What are the side effects of cysta-protek?
Also, if nausea is one of them upon initial taking this, has it eventually gone away after extended use?
Also someone reported on another question that you must take Cysta-protek along with other things. What other supplements must you take with this in order to get the best results
Thanks
Mary

I have never heard that Cystoprotek needed to be taken with anything other itself. It is advised to take with food as it makes some people nauseous due to the oil. I never had that problem and take 6 a day with or without food.
Some people think it is more effective if taken with cysta-Q which is a bromelin compound or maybe Aloe, those are just their opinions or experiences. I took it with Aloe for awhile and didnt see much difference.
Check them out on their Algonot website for more information and you can email them and they do answer you.

Cystoprotek can be taken with other meds like Elmiron and Attarax. It's also recommended that they are taken with food to increase absorption.

Cystoprotek gave me such awful diarrhea that I've stopped taking it. I might try again soon, but it was getting to the point that I was fearing dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. Not healthy.
CystoProtek is a dietary supplement that may help to rebuild the lining of the bladder and can help to reduce inflammation. For many patients this is the only treatment that they need to control all of their IC symptoms. However, there are patients that need to take additional supplements (like Desert Harvest Aloe Vera), or prescription medications (like Vistaril and Elavil or Cymbalta), or physical therapy, or try a combination of all or some of these things to help control all of their symptoms. The key is finding the right treatment option that works for you.
Remember to discuss all of your treatment options with your doctor and to research all of the medications, treatments, and dietary supplements that you plan to use.
The most common side-effect that I've heard many IC patients complain about is burping up the taste of the pill (due to the olive oil). If you take the pill frozen - that side effect goes away in most cases. All other side-effects are rare.
I'm very sorry to hear that one of the patients has had severe diarrhea. If Einzel is planning on trying it again, I would suggest that you try it one pill at a time, frozen, then increase by one pill per week - until you reach 6 pills per day or until the diarrhea comes back. I started at 6 pills per day for 4 months, then decreased the supplement to 4 pills (which is their recommended maintenance dose), then since I've been doing so well - I am now on two pills per day. I've tried cutting them out all together, but my symptoms come back; so I know it's working very well for me.
I suggest that you consult with your healthcare provider if you believe that the information above may be helpful; your healthcare provider will determine the appropriate treatment regimen for you.
