I want to start taking Prelief and am unsure of a couple of things.

How many to take, do I eat something first, like safe food and then take a Prelief. I want to eat some fruit, like peaches, mangoes TOMATOES, a cup of COFFEE. For those of you who have taken it, what do you suggest ?

Thank you. :)

I take mine a few minutes before I eat or drink something that may cause me problems.

If I forget - then I try to take it as soon afterwards so to minimize any trouble.

PRELEIF is my best friend. :)

I take it right before I eat. If I forget, I'll take it immediately afterwards. If you have the powder...sprinkle right on the food. It doesn't have any taste at all. I take 3-4 at a time (That might be an individual thing.)

Good luck...

Check out the Prelief website at www.prelief.com. It may give you a better idea of what you need to take as well as more information about it. When I took it, it helped until I realized that it worsensed my constipation extremely and contributed to my already problem stomach nausea and upset. Praying that you find what you need. Blessings!

The only reason you may need to eat friendly food first is if you fall into the small percentage of people that just don't tollerate well in their stomach. Otherwise before hand is usually better. I also take it if I have a long wait between meals to lesson the acid in my stomach that makes its way to my bladder. Check out Carolyn's link and feel free to send them questions if you have any. Good luck!

Katrina, I just read your message and it maybe explains something to me: I often have pain that awakens me about 4 in the morning, and it gets worse until I finally give up on sleep and get up and eat cereal with milk. Sometimes in the middle of the night I drink a big glass of water to dilute whatever is in my bladder. You take prelief when you go a long time between meals? Maybe I should try it before I go to bed. (I never have tried it, and am 6 weeks pregnant, so I can't take my beloved Elavil anymore.) Does anyone else have this early-morning-waking-you-up pain? My uro. is wonderful, but she said today that she'd never heard anyone report that. (By the way, from reading other messages, I would guess I have a mild case of IC, for about 5 or 6 years now.)

My very first experience with Prelief was about 6 years or so ago, and I took it for heartburn! ;) I would take it before I ate anything acidic just like now, only it was for heartburn instead of bladder troubles, I soley bought it for heartburn/acidy stomach. Who knew I'd discover it again -- only this time for my bladder!! ;)

Hugs!!

Hi

I know that prelief is not sold in Australia. Just wondering if anyone out there knows of another product similar to Prelief? Would any antacid to the trick?

Danielle :hmm:

I know a lot of us use Tums for "eating" slip-ups, just like using the baking soda and water (drinkng 1/2 to 1 tsp in a big glass of water). Any way you can order it on the internet? I know it's sold online... Hmmm, should ask some of the other Aussie girls...

I'll see what I can find out, lol!!

Hugs!

Danii, the only thing I can think of is mylanta, it's for heartburn, but so is prelief, you could give mylanta a try, or if that doesn't help, you can order through the IC shop, I believe Nadia ordered some prelief a while ago, and she did received it very fast from the US, maybe you could try sending her a pm, and see if she has some ideas, I'm not sure if prelief worked for her, but you could ask her all this in your pm.

Hi there Danielle and :welcome:
As far as any of us have been able to find out, you cannot but Prefief in Australia. All a bit silly, if you ask me as it is discribed as a "food additive".

But others have made enquiries and it would have to go through the "Therapeutic Goods Assoc" (TGA). I was able to have my nephew bring three bottles home from the US and he wasn't questioned by customs.

Also, I haven't tried them, but you can get Tums at the chemist. The bicarb soda in water works wonders.

Hi!

Prelief is not available for sale in Australia because we do not have an Australian distributor.

However many Australians order direct over the Internet at www.prelief.com. We ship all international orders via UPS Worldwide Express which has tracking capabilites. Shipments arrive within 2-3 days, generally without any problem.
Prelief is also available at the ICNShop.

I hope this is helpful.....please feel free to contact me direct at bcorson@akpharma.com.

P.S. Baking soda contains 821 mg to 980 mg of sodium per teaspoon. Prelief contains no sodium, no aluminum, no sugar, no potassium.

Hi Jen

What is Ph Control and do you know if I could get it or a similar product in Australia?

Thanks

You can get PH Control from the ICN:-) I would think they'd ship to you in Australia but you'd have to confirm that with them. Are you looking for an antacid? Jen

Thanks Jen. Is Ph Control a similar type of product as Prelief? Are they both antacids?

Thanks
Danielle

Has anyone ever had any side effects from taking Prelief? I've just taken 2 and am experiencing some bad stomach pains. Maybe it's from the Elmiron I'm taking.

I realized after I'd been taking the Prelief for quite a while that the calcium in the Prelief worsened my constipation. I hated to stop using it, but I had to in order to get some relief. I really like Prelief. Praying that your problems are not from the Prelief. Blessings!

Some people expierence stomach problems with prelief if you take it on an empty stomach (I do). It may be the Elmiron also. Does it only happen when you take the prelief?

It happens about 10 minutes after I've taken the Prelief. I think it may have something to do with taking it on an empty stomach. I didn't think about that. Maybe I should eat something that is IC friendly in the morning and then take the Prelief before I eat "bad things". I will try that.

I just recently gave up completely on Prelief after trying it again after laying off of it a while. Unfortunately I get terribly nauseated from taking it. I tried taking it only after I had eaten a few bites of food thinking it was just hurting me on an empty stomach but unfortunately it didn't make a difference. Oh well . . . back to TUMs - for some reason Tums doesn't do me that way.
