Sometimes I wake to sharp bladder pain. I call it my IC alarm clock. Not fun. I find by drinking water, I like to heat mine up, it dilutes the urine and helps with this. Sometimes not. Anti-anxiety med and anti-depressants my doctor gave me helps both my bladder and ability to sleep. Anyone else have this IC alarm clock?

Oh songbird I know what you mean. I had that happen all the time when I was first diagnosed, it's awful isn't it? It's like, you are sleeping and blissfully unaware of your bladder, and wham. It wakes you up and you are reminded of the IC and it's curses....Ugh
Big Hugs!!!

Yeah, and I also have another IC alarm clock that has four paws and can't understand why Mommy flies out of bed not long after she starts pounding on my bladder!

:biglaugh: This is far from funny but I found your title tickled my funny bone I guess. I have this also. If I ever try to sleep in my bladder wakes me up with the sharp stabbing pains that either my bladder is full beyond it's own decided capacity or it's way past pain medication time. I definately know exactly know what you're talking about so you're not alone. I get this "IC Alarm Clock" pain EVERYDAY in the morning or if I try to lay down during the day for a rest.
Hang in there. IC and it's symptoms are extremely irritating sometimes, huh?

I have the same problem. My IC Alarm Clock usually goes off between 5:30 am and 6 am. I often feel like my bladder is being cut open by razor blades. What I really hate is that even when I have the opportunity to sleep late my bladder won't let me. I guess it is just another one of the many things that make this disease so difficult to deal with. On a more positive note these boards are a really good place to discuss this "bladder stuff". We all share sooooo many things in common that non-Icer's don't understand. At least we know we are not alone in fighting this awful disease. Let's keep praying for a cure.

Thanks everyone, and I'm glad you found the humor in my title. I have to keep that sense of humor; I need it. And I learned that I am not the only one who has this even when trying to rest during the day. Sometimes a heating pack works. So I lay down for a bit and now it hurts to sit down. Praying for a cure is a wonderful idea. I pray for everyone with IC daily. I'm so glad you people are here on the board.
