The older I get, the fatter I get. I blamed it on the HRT's, but now I am off those. Someone told me that Estrace Cream makes you retain fluid. At the same time my ic started acting up again this spring, I gained about 25 lbs. I went from a size 12 to a size 16 almost overnight. I can't stand the pressure of clothes around my waist or abdomen.
Do you think being overweight affects ic ?

I can't stand the pressure around my waist either... I have become the sweats and stretch pants queen.... I would think having a couple exrta pounds on yout bladder would create some added pain.. I have noticed it too, with weight gain.. but I blame myself, I love to eat.. :biglaugh: Food is my friend hehehehe

I've been on Estrace cream for 2 years and havent experienced, or been told, about possible fluid retention.

:biglaugh: OK. Maybe I just eat too much ! Actually, it is encouraging to think that if I loose some weight I might feel better. Any diet suggestions ?
I like the sparkpeople program. www.sparkpeople.com It's a simple program to follow & very individual, so the IC diet is not a problem. It's about $2 a week.

:) Thanks for the link Kadi. I will check it out.
Hi Honey,
The Sparkpeople site is actually free right now!!! It wasn't that expensive, but what a treat to have it for free:)

I carry my weight around my tummy. Most days I look pregnant. I know the weight adds to my bladder pressure, oh how I would love a tummy tuck! Think I could convince insurance to pay for it? HA!
I don't like to wear anything without old lady elastic. I like maternity jeans for outtings in the wintertime. Otherwise it's just shorts or maternity capris in the summer.
I speed walk 3-4 times a week for exercise but doing situps is like driving a knife into my bladder.

:) Angela - I carry my weight in my tummy too. Sagging boobs hit the bulging belly - a beautiful sight ! I wear elastic waist jeans if I have to go out, or if I am working in the yard. Indoors I wear lightweight waistless (I don't know what the style is) dresses so that there is no pressure at all. And if I get cold - my favorite outfit is my nightgown with pj bottoms. It's all about comfort at home.

My husband groans every time he comes home from work and finds me in my gown & PJ bottoms (clothes that never go out of style). I stay in my gown for most of the morning when I'm doing chores so that I don't have the binding around my belly!
I did manage to have a breast reduction so I don't have the sag problem anymore. I went from an "E" down to a "C".
While I would love to have a tummy tuck, I have scars from the breast reduction, a hysterectomy scar, a large scar under my arm from having lymphnotic cysts removed and of course the scar on my hip and up my tailbone from the interstim implant. I look like the bride of Frankenstein already, I don't think I could handle anymore scars. At the price of $9,000.00 I'm not rushing out to make an appointment for a tuck anyway.
I'll just keep wearing my faded nightgown and pj bottoms.

I have lost 85 pds. in the past 1 1/2 years. I am not bragging because I have done it partially due to illness. I saw my doc. this week he was pleased. He did the bladder dilation and got to 600cc. He says it is something I did because I was surprised. I believe getting the weight off plus I went back to water aerobics. At class I only do what I feel up to. When I am tired of pounding on the floor I work on the wall. I know it is hard to loose weight but it is good for all of us to do. You can do it. Good luck I'm rooting for you. I still don't like the tight pants. Thank goodness for sweat pants.
It is even nice that they have come out with nice looking ones. The baggy at home the better. I'm not through loosing weight though. I would like to loose 45 more so I can due breast reconstruction even though some people think I am crazy to consider it. Thats another topic.
