Smoking...

Hi everyone,

I don't really want to ask my doctor this question, so I figured I will try the board:

I know that smoking worsens IC symptoms. Is it the tobacco that worsens symptoms, or the actual inhallation of smoke? Basically, I am wondering how I would fare by smoking other "substances." I don't smoke cigarrettes, but I am in college and smoking marijuana is a pretty common thing.

thats problably the worst thing you can do to your bladder.. I smoke cigarettes, and I am pretty sure it plays a role in my pain.. they say 1 joint is equal to 20 cigarettes, not to mention you really don't know what is mixed in with the marijuana.
From what I heard from another ICer, that they tried it for relaxing and pain, but, it ended up sending them into a major flare....

Neither thing is good I am sure. I know you can try to use that to help with the pain and see how you fair but I think it is just the substance in your system that irritates the bladder. It's so hard, you just have to experiment.
