Hello...I hope everyone is doing well!! I have a question about sex and I know its a personal question and I have tried to find the answer online but I cant seem to so I have decided to ask you guys. I always hear about painful sex and how that is associated with I.C. My question is for those who do have the pain where exactly is it at? I know mine seems to be clitorial area there is absolutly no pain inside actually I just went to my ob/gyn today and had my pap and there was no pain. So is clitorial pain normal for I.C. or is it more of a inside pain? I am just trying to figure out where the pain actually is, and I know that everyone is different but was just curious. Thank You guys!

My pain during sex and gynecological exams is at the point of vaginal entry, at the start of penetration. I do have pain in clitoris and inside of labia sometimes, but that usually disappears during intimacy.

For me, the only pain I felt like I'd had "very vigorous" intercourse, that's the only way I can think of to describe it. I too also had the clitoral pain, and it didn't usually show up with sex, it seemed be on it's own. Sometimes though, orgasm could set it off, ouch! I can remember sleeping on my side with a hand pressed against that area for counter-pressure, seemed to help it feel better as did my cold packs.

Hope this helps a little bit!! :)

Hugs!

I feel alot of pain with deep penetration. For me, it sometimes feels as if "it's" poking directly at my bladder. It can be terribly painful. I also have burning pains on the outer areas, and sometimes within. Also have pressure type pain at start of penetration. Jen

well ladies, you have described my pain too... I really think it is all IC related.. you also may want to find out if you have pfd.

Thanks everyone for answering. I really appreciated it. This is all so overwhelming I am just trying to find out as much as I can. Thanks Tigger Gal I go back to my gyno in 3 weeks and I am going to ask her about pfd. My clitorial pain is non stop no matter what that seems to be the only symptoms I am having its so irritated down there it makes me feel like I have to constantly urinate...this is driving me nuts! I am so thankful that I have a great Gyno who is willing to work with me and dont look at me like I am crazy!! Again thank you everyone for answering...have a great day!!

The pain I have tends to be burning vaginal pain. Anyone else have this?

I usually don't have a lot of pain. Mine is more of flaring after sex depending on postions we have used during sex. Sometimes it bothers me, and other times I am fine.

Hey Sassy, I too had vaginal pain as well. I would call mine shooting or a stabbing type pain, it was horrible! But as I have gotten my bladder under control, happy to report all of those awful clitoral/vaginal and the horrible horrible vulvar pain I had have gone bye-bye. And good riddens too!!!!!

Hugs!

I also have vaginal burning, but not every time.

Another thing that makes a big difference is lubrication. If you aren't adequately lubed, it will cause more pain. There are several varieties to choose from and you might also want to try that.

Thanks for posting Tracey and ICJen. Makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one with that kind of pain, I was wondering if I was just strange! Lube doesn't seem to make much difference as far as the burning goes. I'm glad to know that as bladder symptoms get under control this may improve.

Have a great day!

Yep, I too swear by lubricant. One time I thought it was much making a difference, oh boy was I mistaken, lol!! I also used to take some AZO Standard or Uristat about a half an hour before (if I had a chance too, lol) sex, it helped with the need-to-pee feeling I would sometimes have during sex, which was awful and distracting!! I also noticed woman-on-top position helped a bunch, no pressure on my bladder and I could control depth etc. And eased my mind knowing if something hurt I was in control and could stop immediately!! :)

Hope this helps bit!!
Hugs!

Hey zfairy! Have you tried a cold pack on the area? That used to help ease the discomfort for me. And have you checked out the sticky "Jen's Tips" on sex??? They are pretty helpful, etc.

Hugs!!

I never really had pain during intercourse, but always had a lot of pain during the 3 days right after. I had huge flares, really extreme ones after sex. During sex, I was fine unless it was vigorous.
I'm almost a nun now, so don't have to worry about it. :-) hee hee

My symptoms actually started with what I thought was SEVERE clitoral pain, like it was scratched or torn in some way (ICk! sorry!). I really think now that it was my urethra, and I just thought it was my clitoris. The next morning I woke up and actually peed blood, that was my second symptom that something was definately up with my bladder/urethra. :( It kinda sucks that they are both in the same general area!

Wow, I never peed blood. I always have blood in my urine but I am not able to see it. I do think that sometimes it is hard for us to know exactly where the pain is coming from.

Yah, let me tell ya, it's no fun! And really scary. :( It hurt like heck every time I went, but the really heavy visible blood only lasted a day or so. Now, they are just picking it up microscopically, but it's still there. Ugh.
