View Full Version : Just thought I'd properly introduce myself
My name is Alison,I'm 38 married and have 2 boys 11 and 14.I am a carer for my mom who has polymositis.I had a hysterectomy at 29 for severe endometriosis and started to suffer IC symtoms shortly after.I'm still waiting for a confirmation of Ic because most doctors in England believe it's very rare and practically impossible in someone my age.I have however found a more sympathetic doctor who wants to do another biopsy before I can start any medication.Although to say I'm hopeful sounds a bit peverse, I just want to feel better.I have a wonderful extended family of brothers, nieces, nephews and inlaws. My husband Dave is very supportive although sometimes a bit unsure what to say to make it better. When I'm not in pain I can work around the frequency problems and enjoy my life. The day I found you guys was wonderful as I was begining to feel like I was going crazy.I have used the info I found to be more assertive with the doctors. So keep up the good work!

Happy to meet you, but sorry you may have IC. I don't really understand why a doctor would say you aren't the right age for IC --- you're at probably the most common age to develop it. I hope you get a diagnosis soon so you will know exactly what it is you have to deal with.
Sending healing thoughts,
Donna

Hi and another BIG WELCOME!!
I know I had IC at the age of 35 (perhaps younger when my IC was brewing up). I went undiagnosed for YEARS, and misdiagnosed multiple times. I agree with Barb, he's 'nuts' to say you are too young. (It sounds like he's another Physician that could use a lot more IC education!!!!!) You have definitely come to a great site!! Good luck to you and please keep us posted on how you are doing.
