I get up almost every morning w/ a headache and it usuall turns into a Migraine. I had one about 4 weeks ago for about 7 days my doctor put me on Inderal LA 60 mg and that didn't do it. My bp runs like 110/70 anyway then he wanted me to take 80 mg and it ran my bp low. Now I have a scheduled visit w/ a neurologist. I had an MRI and some axile thing was a little different like the 7 and 8 were not the same size or something. But my regular doc said it was fine. I was wondering if anyone here experiences Migraines. They usually start in the back of my head and come around to the left side and behind my ear and then behind my eye. The aura I get is like I know where I am but I could not tell you if that makes any since, if I am driving I get sick to my stomach, my tongue will tingle and sometimes get numb, my left arm and shoulder will hurt. I am just wondering if anyone experiences this. My teeth even hurt, and my head will hurt for a while and then I will think I am getting better and it will start again. If anyone has any help for me please email me or reply on here thank you my email is vickifrye@comcast.net PLEASE HELP!!! :bonk:

I occassionally get a migraine - but mine is due to neck injury I received in auto accident 3 1/2 yrs ago. I usually get them when I tense up.
I can't blame mine on IC.

I occasionally get migraines, more in the Spring than any other time of year (3-4 migraines a year). Bright flashing lights also trigger them for me. (Gave up going to concerts b/c when they'd shine the lights into the crowd, I'd get a hellish headache behind one eye & nausea.)

I have to say, since being on Elavil for the IC, I've had less of these (maybe only 1 or 2 a year now).

Both my daughter and a daughter in law get migraines --- neither has IC. For both, the headache is preceded by a feeling they recognize so they can get started on meds before it gets horrible.

I also get migraines. In fact mine also start either in the back of the neck (tension) or over my right eye. Some of my meds say may cause headaches. I had one so bad today that I took 3 pain pills with in 2.5 hours and finally I felt some relief. The bad thing is when it is just "sitting" there waiting to attack. I get sick to my stomach too. I know I am rambling and running around in circles. I also was just notified by my doc that my urine culture came back positive from infection and I did not have the time to get to the pharmacy. arghh I freaking hate IC!

I have suffered from migraines and chronic tension headaches for years - am now on prophylactic medicine and take triptans for the migraines - this has helped a lot. I don't think it is connected to IC though?

Coopsmom - my doctor told me to take Elavil at bedtime because it does make me tired. As far as the weight - I've gained 20 lbs in past 6 months but I think it is more to my not being active - don't think it is med related.

I used to get a lot of migraine headaches, they would start at the back of my head and up behind my left ear and then my left eye. I was put on Imitrex for a while and they seemed to have lessened a lot. It runs in my family, my mother had them, and so does my daughter. Since I have been on Elavil, so far no more splitting headaches. Elavil has been definitely a life saver for me with the headaches and my IC, Iris. :flower:

My mother has it all her life and I'd lived with her migraines since I was very small. She's in bed for 1-3 days, with big headache and vomit. She's been always skinny because she can't eat anything during the attacks, and she looses her weight with her migraines. Since her doctor gave her new medications, she's doing better and she's gaining some weight!!

Unfortunately, two years ago, my elder daughter of 13 years old started to have this disease like her grandma. She says she sees aura before getting really bad. Then she takes her pain pill, and goes to bed as soon as possible. She also has vomit. Also my brother has it sometimes... My mother and my daughter take "imigran" for migraines when it's starting. None of them has what I have, “IC” though.

I get migranes too. I found that Excerin works. For some people if you get a migrane lots of caffiene will take it away. Others like my aunt who doesn't have IC got them because she was drinking to much caffiene. I get mine now a lot for smoking to much and for the meds. Excedrin also has Tension Headach which is really good when you are tight in your neck or back and it gives you a migrane and also if you get a migrane from a sinis headach they have one for that too. There's only one catch depending on the person you may get what they call a rebond headach the next day. But the good thing I like about it is you take 2 and it lasts the whole day it takes about 20mins to kick in. I use to live off of them. Migranes are also caused by stress which causes tension in the neck and back. So my suggestion would be to try the Excedrin and try something that you like to do or you could try yoga or pilates for relaxation and stress reliever.
