For the past week I have felt great!!! My husband was away on buisness. Today we had sex and now I feel like my bladder is irratated. I have the urge to go the bathroom frequently.

Many of us do find that we flare with intercourse, unfortunately. Some techniques that help are taking a warm bath beforehand to relax the muscles, extra lubrication (KY etc.), foreplay, and of course as always good communication between the partners. You may find that one position or another is more comfortable than other positions.

Some IC'ers have used ice or heat afterwards to limit the inflammation, and some find that pain meds are very useful.

I've done that many times. I can be feeling fine then me and hubby make love then BAM a flare will set in.
when this happens i try to lay back down with a heating pad or ice which ever feels better at the time i will try both. if that doesn't ease things off then i will take a pain pill or a klonopin. (klonopins help relax my bladder that helps me a lot but will also knock me out when my pain medicine doesn't normally knock me out no more.)
normally this will help knock the flare out if all else fails me i have hubby to fix me a rescue treatment (heparin and marcaine mixer) and install it into my bladder) I know that isn't a op. for all of us.
but hopefully something i've said will help you. if not I hope someone can post something that will.
sending you hugs and prayers

Oh yeah, I can relate to that! Before my hubby and I were married, he was only "home" on weekends, as he worked about 3 1/2 hours away during the week, in Detroit area. So, you can imagine weekends were all about "reconnecting", and I too would have a rotten day or so aftewards. I tried to plan for it to happen on Saturday, lol, so I would feel better in time for work on Monday, lmao!! I too would get a bit of burning and frequency would go up. The more I worked on being honest and open about it and investing in a good personal lubricant, the better I did afterwards. It just takes a lot of patience and experimentation. Which, my sweetie was more than willing to participate in, he didn't care, he was going to get sex!! LMAO!! ;)

Hugs!!

I can definitely relate! Often I have some pain on penetration, which we ease by relaxation techniques, going slowly, and using a lot of lube. I also experience urethral burning and an "irritated" feeling down there afterwards, so I try to take a Pyridium Plus beforehand, but occasionally sex is a surprise... so I don't get to ;) And I often flare the next day, with frequency and some pain. It's really common with IC...
