I have deleted the thread regarding internet craft sites. Please --- if you wish to share advertising sites for craft supplies --- do it by private message or email.

Thanks, everyone.

same here donna, we are not promoting anything, we just want to share, if some one is after something particular, we could just let them know where to find it, that's all....martha

One of the things that happens very frequently is that advertisers will register for the purpose of advertising. And if we allow one individual to advertise their products/sites, then we would not be able to prevent others from doing the same. I have visited sites where advertising is not controlled and many have become more advertising than support. We don't want that to happen.

It's for that reason that there is a policy on the IC Network that advertising without prior approval is not allowed. A short time ago, in order to allow ICers to advertise their own products, the Seller's Corner board was opened. If anyone wishes to post there, please send an email to jill@ic-network.com

No one was advertising or trying to sell anything here and I cannot see how it was interpreted in that way.
I am sad to see this idea brought to a halt when it could have been a useful tool for sharing between like minded ICN members.

I agree with Rosalie Donna, we are not trying to sell anything, and that is the honest truth, we are just trying to help each other, I don't have a website myself, so I'm certainly not self promoting. In the other threads relating to arts and craft, some links to sites have been mentioned there as well, why has nobody said anything about that, I suppose I am very disappointed,...martha

i have an idea guys. Why not start a message board on the yahoo sites. its free of charge. then invite the members from this board to share there ideas for all crafts. since the icn can't allow this because of other people who doens't have ic does try to come in and take over our boards i've seen it before donna or one of the super modertor could get to it to delete them.
I do understand where both sides are coming from. Just a thought I hope you don't mind me jumping in trying to help.

The problem is that we often have to go in and delete messages from people who purport to be patients by saying a couple of things about IC - but then the rest of their post is all an ad. WE know that you guys aren't selling anything (heck, I posted a link to a scrapbooking site without thinking about it!), but then when it comes time to delete the obvious ads it makes it harder to explain why some links to sites that sell products are OK and others are not.

I don't think the ICN really minds craft links between members as much as allowing them makes it harder to defend deleting the other obvious advertising links. KWIM?

This has been a HUGE issue in the past - advertising. It's less about the current situation and more about an ongoing problem... Promise.

Oh, and when I saw that Donna had removed the links I remembered the one I had posted and went in and deleted it. I hadn't thought of it either so please don't take it personally, OK? :) There was no way you could have known - we don't think you intentionally did anything.

Kim and Rhonda are right. Thanks to both of you for clarifying. It's one of those situations where you can't allow one person to do something, then stop another from doing what they consider the same thing.

And it's one of the reasons we have private messaging.

Thank you for clarifying that for me Donna. I am concerned now that I have posted in another thread suggesting that someone look for a site on the internet about a horse race in my city. Will that be a problem?

It shouldn't be a problem --- I just wish I could visit your city.

I do appreciate your understanding.

Sending warm hugs,
