I have noticed that sometimes I notice little round balls (usually 2 or three) in my urine. One time (this is gross) but, I reached my hand i there to see if they were hard balls or not and they just broke apart. What could these be???

I have heard other people say on the boards that it's tissue from the lining of your bladder...

It could be tissue shedding from the bladder wall (the lining). I think there are many of us that get this and at first it can be very startling. If you have any new symptoms, or blood in your urine, etc, you should tell your doctor. Otherwise it's probably just another icky thing that goes with IC.

how does it look like acid? Kind of a cloudy drop that seperates itself from the rest of the urine? If thats what ya mean, then yes :)
Like I said though, if you have any new symptoms you should run them by your doctor.

Yes, I have that & "oil slicks". I was told it was my bladder lining sloughing off, but you should always ask your doctor.

Mine is usually tissue off my bladder wall.

I have TONS of tissue in my urine...so much so that they always assume if is from the other place. But even with the other place "plugged" if ya know what I mean and clean and sterile or even cath samples (which is rare for me due to injured urethra) it is ALWAYS there. If I urinated in a strainer I would likely have a teaspoon of "tissue". It is scary because it is SOOOO much...and the more I have the worse my pain is. I fear it is no longer the LINING of my bladder but deeper in to the organ tissue.
To test this, try cleansing extremely well, "plugging" the other area and then urinating in a crystal clear plastic container. I can actually FEEL some of the pieces as they pass - some are quite large and look exactly like peeling sunburned skin.
I have "had it out" with nurses and lab techs too as they ASS U ME it is "contamant" from "the other area" as in vaginal discharge or yeast from there. But hmm... with a cath sample how can that be? When they study it I have squamous cells, white blood cells, red blood cells and other misc. "things". But this is ALL OF THE TIME not during infections. Same with ALWAYS having measurable blood in my urine as well.

I was wondering about this last week. Having had IC for 24 years, I never really noticed it before! I appreciate all of your comments about it, now I know I am not alone!

Even healthy bladders can shed some tissue, but most people with no bladder disease aren't interested in what their urine looks like and never examine it. However, if this is something new, definitely check with your doctor.

I have noticed stuff in my urine too. I have never noticed anything in my urine before until I actually inspected it the last few months mine actually looks like white dishcarge ( the best way I can explain it) floating around and there is no visible dishcharge coming from anywhere else so I knew it had to be coming from my bladder. I have always wondered what it was. I Hope everyone is doing well!!!

The tissue theory is the most plausible. I was also thinking it could be a mixture of tissue and some sort of discharge from the abrasions on the bladder wall, like puss?
