Has anyone ever tolerated elavil that didn't tolerate nortriptylene? After I took one pill of the lowest dose nortrip. I went to bed and 90 mins. later woke up with crushing chest pain, sweating profusely which was probably esophageal spasm which I have trouble with from many oral meds. I never tried elavil since they were similar. I had "attacks" off/on for 48 hours after the nortrip. but I have since learned that taking two tums will get rid of an attack very quickly. I can take one dose of tums without it bothering my bladder but two doses I will flare for 1-2 days. Since all that is left now is neurostimulation, that's such a big leap I want to make sure I've tried every oral med for pain and the only AD's that I haven't tried is wellbutrin and elavil. Thoughts?

I think elavil comes in dosages as low as 5 mg --- might be worth a try.

So far the ones listed at the two pharmacies are all colored tablets. Does anyone have one that's white or is in a capsule that can be emptied into another plain capsule? Is so, what's the brand name? Thank you. Because I can't take colored tablets, they make me itch and esp. at bedtime is out. I'd be up scratching all night. Does it come any other way in any other brand?
