View Full Version : Scrapbookers - come show your stuff!
Here is a new page from me:
Someone on the other thread asked how to insert an image that is larger in the post. If you click on the button in the reply box that has a landscape looking thing on it (and says "insert image" if you move your mouse over it) that will post the actual size.
If you click on the "add attachment" button - it shows up tiny.

How cute Kim, Cass railroad is about 40 minutes from my house. What a drive up and down that mountain! Seems like they had fun. There is another great train ride The New Tygart Flyer that literally load in my back yard. and blows its whistle from my front door. If you ever want to try this one let me know. I think it is fully enclosed and has 1 car that food is provided, the others you can pack a pic-nic lunch. The ones going righ now are beautiful with the colored leaved and the high falls is such a great trip. It usually departs around 10 or 11 and returns around 3 pm.
I remember seeing a brochure about that one! Sounds like fun. I was just thinking we should go over to Cass again b/c my youngest has never been there. I was pregnant with him when we took the trip I scrapbooked. :) If we decide to do the other I will definitely let you know.

Great would love to even just say Hi as you board if we are unable to go the day you chose. Both train rides are beautiful right now with the leaves changing and falling.

:) hi Kim, sorry I missed this thread, what beautiful pages, and those kids look so adorable with their chocolate covered faces, scrapbooking is a lot of fun isn't it, it gives each page 'character' not like the old days, when people would quickly flick through the pages, because they all looked the same, now each page has a story with the backgrounds and embellishments, it's a joy to look through a album now, I really must do more work on my albums, I got sidetracked with my card making, ...martha
You should post some pictures of your cards! I'd love to see them. :)
(I am going to delete my pics in a day so the server isn't too bogged down with photos.)

Oh Kim those are great!! Do you computer journaling and headlines etc?? Now you are making me feel guilty for not working more on my scrapbooking!! LOL Those are GREAT! They look like the ones in my Simple Scrapbooks and Creating Keepsakes mags!!! Nice job!!!!

On my those are beautiful. One craft I haven't got into but find myself more and more interested. Oh boy, more crafts in the closet..lol
Aw, thanks guys! I can be kind of critical of them. You know how that is - when you have been staring at something for a long time you suddenly see every flaw in it.
Traceann - I'm not sure if I know what computer journaling and headlines are. I do journal in spots on some of my layouts - I'm not sure if I will on these. If I do I might do hidden journaling that can be pulled out or something. These were the first layouts I'd done in months. I just couldn't get into it for awhile there.

What wonderful pages and adorable kids! Great job Kim! I might go scan in a page or two to share with you!

Please do!!!!!!!!!!
You guys probably already know this, but if you like to peruse other people's work has what they called a "Peanut Gallery" and you can look at hundreds. It's fun - and cheaper than the magazines I love to buy.... :)

:) hi kim, I had a look through that webside you posted, and it has a lot of clever ideas, I bookmarked it so I can go back when I need some inspiration too, I buy 2 craftmags a month, I would like more, but it's to expensive, and sometimes I go to my local library to hire craftmags, it's free and we get to keep them for 3 weeks.
I'm always looking through the net for craft ideas, I think most of us do, to get inspiration, I find it very hard at times to make a new card, I just stare at the blank card, and just don't know what to do with it, I don't copy people's work as such, I may just use bits and pieces, and try to make something different. ps I'm still waiting for the digital, but as soon as I get it, I will try my best to put some cards on here, fingers crossed, ...martha
I just stare at the blank card, and just don't know what to do with it, I don't copy people's work as such, I may just use bits and pieces, and try to make something different.
That is exactly what I do - first: stare blankly at the card or layout. Sometimes for a looooong time. :lmao: Those pics from the cookie layout were laying on a piece of paper on my desk for 3 days. I'd walk by and look. Think for awhile. Come back later. Sometimes it takes a long time for inspiration to come, huh? What I start out thinking I will do is usually quite different than what it ends up. It kind of happens as you go, doesn't it?
Then I also do what you said second - use bits and pieces of things I have seen others do. I haven't copied layouts, but I certainly use elements I have seen other people use. I think we all do that. :)

WOW those are beautuful pictures, you do a great job, keep up the good work
What a beautiful layout, Janie!!!! I love that! :) And she looks so happy! :)
For those thinking about starting scrapbooking: before I started I could not imagine catching up on all my photos and the whole deal just seemed overwhelming. Then I read in a magazine that if you feel overwhelmed you could decide to just scrap birthdays. I did that. Once those were all done it suddenly didn't seem like a big deal to slowly start to scrap other things.
So you might try just scrapping certain themes to start. It makes it seem more manageable. :)
The other thing is that it is something you can do while sitting down - even with a heating pad on. It is so therapeutic to put a page together and it can help take your mind off of so much. So - not only do you end up with neat keepsakes you can be proud of ---- it could also help take your mind off of your discomfort - emotional or physical. :)

I'm a bit scared to get into scrapbooking. I have so much stuff even starting with just one subject like birthdays is still mind boggling to me.
I was quite a happy snapper at one time and had boxes and boxes of photos before my kids came along...well now!
On top of that I have a box of photos that were mum and dad's. Their snaps must date back to before their wedding in 1940 and I don't even know who most of the people are.I don't have the heart to throw them away cause I know they were important to somebody at one time. And most of the rellies who could help have gone to God. See what I mean?
Do any of you have some clever way to help?
My next problem is with the cost. There is a wealth of stuff you an buy for scrapbooking but it becomes so expensive especially when I have so much to do.
What a whinger! Ha ha., I just need to win tattslotto and find an extra few hours in the day.

:) Hi Rosalie, I know what you mean, it can end up being expensive, but I started out just buying bits and pieces, the inportant thing to remember is to make sure that the paper you use is acid free so that your work will last a long time, Kim also mentioned a website in her earlier post, it's called www.twopeasinabucket.com and you can get some inspirations from there, or you can google scrapbooking, and heaps of stuff will pop up.
I'm not sure what to suggest about those old photo's you have, they have some really nice scrap booking paper for the old black and white photo's, like old charm themes, nostalgic sort of paper, and they have the sepia look to it, I think that would work perfectly, but really there is so much choice out there, and I also think prices for scrap book paper are not as expensive as they use to be, I think because it is becoming more popular, I pick up quite a bit of stuff at crazy clarks, they are getting more and more craft stuff in, but I don't know if you have crazy clark's in melbourne, anyway it's good to see you back, martha
Rosalie
10-23-2005, 02:19 PM
I am so glad to be back. I might never leave the family room. Yes we have a crazy clarks type of shop.
It started as crazy clints which became silly sollies (who thinks up these names?) now its just the warehouse. They have some really goods things at cheap prices. I have used them in card making.
I suppose its the price of albums and pages that bothers me. I wonder if you an buy large sheets of acid free paper and cut it into the size you want.. if that could cut down on the cost? There must be a way of making your own album covers too.
MarthaB
10-23-2005, 02:47 PM
rosalie, I bought my scrap albums in big w, they are cheaper there than in the shops that just sell scrapbooking stuff, ( I hope it makes sense), it will say on the cover that they are acid free..about the paper I think you could maybe buy packs with several pages in it, and they are not to expensive, also I forgot to mention that I get quite a bit of stuff from k-mart, they are getting more and more craft stuff, and they often have sales like 15 or 20 percent of all craft stuff, I got my fiskars cutter a lot cheaper that way.... martha
Rosalie
10-23-2005, 02:52 PM
I got my fiskars for my birthday. I put in request for all sorts of craft stuff.
I'm going to try and upload a photo. I'm going to be very brave and put a recent one on taken at Hilarys deb in march. Might take a while though.

Hey Kim! ;) On the computer journaling and headlines, I use my PrintShop program for the fonts, creating headlines etc. Saves me some money sometimes on buying the sticker-types, etc. I like to do some journaling in my own hand, but mostly use the computer for that stuff, looks much better and soooo many cool fonts! I just downloaded a TON of free fonts, holy cow, now almost too many....LOL I also like to scan in photos and do "practice" layouts in Printshop before I do it in hard copy. You can rearrange as many times as you like, make headlines to your heart's content (and not wast any paper etc) until you get the look and "feel" you want to go with! Big fun, and you don't have to drag all your stuff out for the "planning phase", lol!!
Rosalie, I have also read up that you shouldn't feel like you HAVE to scrap all your photos...that can make it overwhelming. And some pages, don't have to include photos at all! I sent out a questionnaire to girlfriends, etc. about there knowledge/impressions etc of me, for a "Me" page!
I love twopeasinabucket myself. Also hang out at :
www.creatingkeepsakes.com
www.simplescrapbooksmag.com
I also have an "Everything" book. A scrap album for those things that might only be one page and don't fit into a "themed" album or might not have enough to make a whole album just to it. Makes it less pressure on me, knowing I don't have to come up with a whole album, etc. Just one page and done. LOL!
Hugs!
Thanks, Tracey. :) Yes, I do do my titles in computer font many times and usually do the journaling that way - but do it in my own handwriting sometimes, too. I really like to computer print on vellum. I'll have to post some of my other layouts where I did use computer fonts. :)
traceann
10-24-2005, 06:48 AM
Oh yeah, I agree!! Printing on the vellum is soooo cool. I would have to say that stuff is my favorite paper-product! I'd probably incorporate it into everything I do!! LMAO!!! I am still working on my "me & him" book as I am calling it, and only have 2 pages dones so far, will have to post them. Not that great, but still kind of "learning" what I like, what I don't like, etc. I just got a great new leather covered scrap album at Marshall Field's on sale for only 14.99! So, I am taking the pages out of the original book I have them in and moving them into their new home, lol. It's a black cover and I plan on doing all black and white photos for it I think!!
Ok, now I want to get the heck out of work and go home a scrap!! Has anybody tried that spray (I think it's by 3m) that preserves pictures that have been printed from a printer??? I was thinking on getting some since I use so many digital pictures....
Hugs!
Sounds like a great deal on the leather covered scrapbook. :) It's the little things that make us happy, isn't it? Shopping for scrapbooking supplies is one of my biggest joys and biggest vices. I ordered supplies online last night for the first time. Papers, embellishments and so on. FUN! :)
I'd love to see some of your pages. :)

10-24-2005, 01:13 PM
Oh yeah, I agree. I think I am fortunate in a way that there are no scrap stores or craft stores near me, or I think hubby and I would be living in a cardboard box!! I can go nuts, and I don't even have to have anything in particular in mind, my reasoning is "oh, it's so cool/cute/neat/perfect I am sure I will come up with something to use it for!" Oh boy, that cannot be a good thing...LOL!!! My "dealers" are at least 40 minutes away, so that helps save the pocketbook. There was one really neat scrapping store and I looked at a leather covered album there and they wanted 30 some dollars for it! I was pretty pleased with my Field's purchase, lol! Also probably a good thing I was shopping that day with Mom-in-law, or I could have spent hours on the supplies I found there! I never knew they carried that kind of stuff!!!! So many cute embellishments, sigh....
Where did you order from? I have only ordered from JoAnn Fabrics online, but there are a couple other really cool places just dedicated to scrapping and paper-crafts...
Hugs!
I can go nuts, and I don't even have to have anything in particular in mind, my reasoning is "oh, it's so cool/cute/neat/perfect I am sure I will come up with something to use it for!"
LOL That is soooooo me. I almost never have anything in mind - I just think the same thing you do ---- "That's too cute!!! I must have it." :lmao:
This was the first time I ordered online, but it was from Scrapper's Haven. They have tons of namebrand stuff.
We have a JoAnn's near us that I have bought supplies from. They don't have a big variety of papers in store, but they do have neat embellishments. And things are on sale often. :)

10-24-2005, 03:26 PM
:) yes,I did rosalie, thank you very much, I have bookmarked it, I spoke to my hubby about it last night, we definately look into that, when we need more ink...martha
Rosalie - Don't fight it! There's nothing you can do!!!! ;) Really, you should try scrapbooking - it is a blast and creates such neat momentos for others to look at. Do it, do it, do it, do it!!!! :)
traceann
10-25-2005, 03:28 AM
Yeah, Rosalie...come to the dark side....just say yeeeeessssssss.....no point in fighting it...resistance is futile....just do it, do it, do it, do it......
Oh, it's so nice Kim to know there is someone else who buys stuff with nothing particular in mind! Yahooooo!!! I am not alone! LOL!! I am not one of those super-scrappers who can plan it out first what exactly they want for their page - then go shop for it...I prefer to have lots of supplies to choose from, then lay it all out and go from there, lmao! Makes a bit of a big mess, but I don't care, I'll clean it up --- eventually!!!! hee hee hee ;)
I agree, JoAnn's doesn't have too much by way of paper, but seems like I have found lots of "cute" (me too Martha, love the word "cute", lol) embellishments between the card crafting section and the scrapping section. I will have to dig up those sites that have a great selection of products...my wish list at one is ridiculous...
Hugs!

Got a question for you Kim....Did you scan your pages in or photograph them and download them to the puter that way? My pages are the 12x12 size and don't fit on the scanner....LOL ;)
I take digital pictures of them. (I have a bunch on disc I will share at some point.) I THINK twopeasinapod has a stitching program - but maybe you have to buy it. That program allows you to "stitch" together two scanned sides of a layout. You might try that if you don't have a digital camera. :)
traceann
10-27-2005, 02:01 PM
Cool, yep have a digital camera! Time to dig out the only 2 pages I actually like...and hubby's isn't quite finished yet...LMAO!
I used to have a scrap night with a girlfriend, but stopped that for a couple reasons, 1 my sweetie moved up here permanently, and 2 I discovered I did better alone-- could think better and got more accomplished. When she was here I ended up coming up with all kinds of ideas for her pages and none for my own...hence the reason only two done that I really got into the swing of things with.
Glad tomorrow is Friday, I have lots of things to accomplish!! There just aren't enough hours in the day....ugh.

You are all bad bad girls..enticing a poor innocent with your seductive beckonings.
What is a girl to do? Give in! thats what.
I have this quilt project to complete before I delve into my photos. Correction, to start and I have just had an email letting me know the newlyweds will be home on 6th Nov. Ahhhhhh!!
Yesterday I was going to cut out the pieces. Alas! Not enough of the right material. So I found a shop that specializes in Australiana patterns. I'm off tomorrow leaving the hubby cowering in the corner...NO NO No more fabric.. the roof is already chockers!
Yeah, not enough hours in the day and sunday we switch to daylight savings time and LOSE an hour! (don't you just love exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I feel in such a wierd mood this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
traceann
10-28-2005, 04:06 AM
Rosalie, finally a kindred spirit who love exclamation marks, LOL!!!! (see?) I swear sometimes it must seem like I am yelling everything, ha ha ha ;)
Oh hey, I am all for peer pressure and not above using it, ha! :) And oh no...you must start now, not allowed to have only one project going at a time, not fair. You must be overwhelmed with confusion on where to start, and which one to work on! ;)
Scrapping is great though, and I know the best advice I have read is not to feel you have to scrap EVERY photo ever, but I have a hard time following that, there are so many great ones I want to use, hence the reason I get "stuck" and do nothing....LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ah yes, love exclamations!!!
Hugs!!!!!! ;)
The text on the sides says: "So sweet, sooo ornery!"
Oh, and wasn't I saying something the other day about not needing to buy scrapbooking magazines now that I can peruse online to look at layouts? That didn't last long - I gave into temptation and bought one this morning.

I love it!! I get Creating Keepsakes and Simple Scrapbooks in the mail, erm, I used to, think the subscriptions just ran out...lack of extra funds for something like that at the present time...drag!! LOL I do have big "Scrapbooking Friends and Family" book from Creating Keepsakes, and tons of mags...but still....
Was the background paper alread varigated or did you do that with the different shade blues...your handwriting too??? ;)
Nope, the paper was already swirly ;) and the handwriting is rub ons. They are actually rub ons that I ordered online the other night! Can you believe how fast that was???? I ordered them on Sunday night and they arrived here on Wednesday!
I don't LOVE that layout, but I like it. I basically made the car border first - I had seen one like it at Wal Mart and decided I could duplicate it. Then I needed a layout to put it with so I came up with this. not terribly inspired, but it's cute. :)
traceann
10-28-2005, 03:34 PM
Holy moly, you just ordered them!! That is like really fast, amazing! (Uh oh, the exclamations are at it again) I happen to think it's a pretty darn cute layout! LOL
Ugh, you are so crafty!! I have had scrappers block for months now...but hoping the reception will get me going. Now the whole thing is "complete" wedding and reception, so ok let the scrapping continue! But I still have to finish the "Dating Years", lol...sigh....
I know what you mean. I had been in a slump and then just forced myself to do one layout. Then that kind of put me on a roll and I've done 3 now. I have another one set out to work on over the next few days. I think we hit jags, you know? I had no interest for a couple of months there. Still had interest in BUYING things for scrapbooking, however... ;)

And shoot, with all the colitis troubles this past spring/summer/early fall, lol, no energy left for scrapping to be sure. And I had just gotten on a roll last year about this time (when I started to really get into it) when the IC dx came along...ugh...So, I am very apprectiative of this board, it gives me my desire to get back into the swing of things that make ME happy!! ;)

Kim that is a great page and what a cutie looks like he has the devil in him.
And Tracey the black and white is very effective.
I am definately confused. Where on earth do you start. I know you said just pick a theme but holy moly which one of those. Birthdays, christmas, kids, brothers, sisters, mums, dads arrrrgh too much.
Are you quite sure about having more than one project going at once? I've got a christmas piece waiting to be quilted, a quilt top for my son in the same condition, this wedding quilt in the planning, five portraits waiting to get started, a pattern for punch needle roses I realy want to do for myself, my daughters formal dress that picked up the material for this morning, 50 or so christmas cards to produce..............are you sure about getting into scrapbooking? I dunno!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a great idea, I'll put the kettle on for some herbal tea and you lot come on over and help get me started.
Oh! where's that blessed transporter when you need it!

Thanks for the link to the Pea website. As a scrapbooker for 5 years, sometimes you can lose your creativeness. These magazines are expensive, I like to buy mine at the scrapbook stores when they've gone out of date. It usually costs about half price. I pull out my favorite layouts or great tips and put them in page protectors, assorted by subject so that when I get scrappers block I have a quick inspiration.
My husband enclosed the garage for me to use as a scrapbook room March 2004 because we couldn't eat at the dining room table anymore. And I still need more space! Funny how addictive it can be. I'm hooked on papers...can't ever have enough!!!
One new thing I'm doing is a scrapbook journal for the holidays. I started about a week ago...I snap pictures of mundane objects, like a pile of skateboards on my lawn that were just so colorful against the fall grass and I jot down what our famiy did today. Just like a regular journal, but with a few pics that have been reduced down digitally. I even took pics of the dogs after picking them up from the groomers. (It's not too often they are that pretty). I took pics of pumpkin picking day & used some of them in my journal and some in my scrapbook. It's just a great way to remember the Holidays year after year. I decorated the outside of the journal with all kinds of cool fall embellishments. I leave it out on the coffee table for everyone to read. The kids read it daily & I've even caught my husband looking at it.
There's a great website for ordering scrapbook supplies...it's stickerplanet.com. Good prices and selection on all kinds of goodies.
I recently left my job of 10 years because of IC. I was really concerned about being bored but I love the extra time to scrap & craft. AND IF IT'S NOT NAILED DOWN THEN IT GETS SCRAPPED!
Thank you for sharing your pages, they are magazine worthy!
My name is Angela....and I'm a scrapaholic

Hi Angela! (imagine a lot of voices in support-group style, lol) What a fantastic idea!!! I think I am going to do that. Take a picture for every day or week or month etc, write up what I want to say about the day, week, month etc, then scrap as I have time! Brilliant!! Thank you soooooo very much!!! And I loved the page protector idea...now just need to get to the store for some protectors!! You probably have just become my hubby's hero, he's always griping at all the magazines I have, cause you know, you just can't throw those sorts away...but now, I can "reduce" the pile!!
I must admit...I too am addicted to paper AND embellishments....Problem is I am limited to what my big scrap caddy can hold, grrrrr.
Thanks Rosalie, I love black and white, lol, as I said before, I generally turn all my pics to black and white...LOL
Hmmm, since it's a stay-indoors-cause-allergies-are-driving-me-crazy kind of day...think I will work on pics, then come up with some journaling! Now, where's one of million pens and some paper....(oh yeah, also addicted to pens, any kind too, not just scrapping...)

Angela you are sooooo organized, I want some of that skill. but you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks.
Your ideas are inspiring. As long as I can keep on track, I think I'll do something along the same lines.
Starting 1st Jan 2006, I could take a photo or two every day throughout the year and call it "A Year in the Life of the Kirklands" What do you think?
After reading back over your post, I reckon we have a very creative scrapper here. You lot could put together an award winning book, write in it a forward thanking me for my undying support and inspiration (cause you couldn't have done it without me- a few tearstains on the page here would be truly effective), make oodles of money and shout me a trip to the US to be there at your presentation for the book of the century.
What do you reckon?
Sounds great by me.
Traceann - Cool pages! I bet your hubby loves them. I should go back through some early pics of me and my husband when we were dating and scrap them. :)
Angela - You need to post some of your layouts!!! They sound amazing. Please post some sometime, OK???

10-31-2005, 03:14 AM
Thanks Kim, LOL. That's as far as I have gotten with what I call my "Me & Him" book. Like I said, that slump has kinda put a damper on it. But, I think it's finally coming to an end after this new board starting!! Yippy!!!!
I have more ideas now -- now all I need is the TIME to work, ugh. That's the hard thing to come by.... :( I have been collecting and saving tidbits to use in the album, like some of the wrapping paper from a wedding gift, and some of the tulle from a bow that was on it. I unwrapped carefully, so the paper is in good shape...love doing the "ripped" effect, so thought it would be the perfect embellishment to the actual "Wedding Page", it's white with pearl stripes... Now, just need to get the space and the time....ack!
Hugs!

Glad to see you here!! :) Like I said, we get a bit silly, but it's really fun on these boards, it's become a way to stop thinking about bladders for awhile, most times it makes me forget all about it and puts my mind onto fun stuff!!! Going to check out the link right now!!!

:) you girls have been really busy I see, lovely pages, I haven't looked at the boards too much lately because I feel like absolute crap, My periods are due, and I am so uncomfortable at the moment, I went to see the doc this morning to get some tramadol, because the codeine isn't working, anyway I hope to be a bit better soon, so I can join you all again here.

:) Hi guys thanks for your replies, I'm feeling a bit better today, the doc put me on tramal, and that has helped somewhat, It's difficult because I know all this pain comes from my bladder, but because my uro did not diagnose me, I don't have any other meds apart from the painkillers, He wants me to come back when my bladderburning comes back ( has gone since I had my hydro) but I still have all the other pain to deal with. (sigh)
Take care Martha
traceann
11-22-2005, 07:15 AM
Oh Martha, that stinks. Have you broached the subject of maybe having them try you on some of the meds? My Elmiron was originally a "trial" kind of thing to see how I responded to it...
Here's to you feeling better soon! Miss ya!!!
Love,
T
Rosalie
11-23-2005, 11:47 AM
I agree with Tracey. Martha ask if he would be prepared to give you something other than just pain meds. Does your uro suspect that it is IC?
Its pretty lousey that you haven't anything else.
traceann
11-24-2005, 04:33 AM
Yeah, my doc and I "diagnosed" me on symptoms alone, so it really was a "well, let's give it a shot before more intensive testing".
Hope you are feeling better girlie!!!

:) hi guys,I feel so bad about not responding earlier, but the hard drive on the computer was broken, so I couldn't get in for a few days, I swear I had withdrawel symptoms.
I will definately see if I can get another appointment with my uro soon, and maybe he can put me on elmiron on a trial basis, I worry because the longer I go untreated the worse it will get, I am also getting increasingly depressed, and more so because I miss you all, this board is my anchor, and the last few days were hard, because I couldn't get on this darn computer, anyway I hope it won't break down again, but if you see me missing for more then a couple of days that means the computer is on the blink again, thanks for caring,

Yes, lol, Morgana and I have developed "Flush Mail" it's a great way of communicating through the toilet, :toilet: since we all are in there so darned often...might as well make the darn thing a multi-tasker!! LMAO!!! But there are still flaws in our designs....currently being worked on.... :biglaugh:

Oh, flush mail...not Mo mail hehehe just re-read your post.

I am sure Mo would love it to be called "Mo Mail" , it would feed into her world domination thing she has going on right now....LMAO!!!!

Andrea, I am with you...I just keep buying more and more stuff....it's another addiction... I now have a new one too...picture frames. I have 6 currently on my desk shelf, 5-6 in a box waiting to be put up or out and 100 bucks worth on lay-away at Kmart and I just bought 2 more when visiting the inlaws this past weekend. The thing is, the ones I have on my desk have no pics in them yet. I figure if I stare at them blank long enough, it will kick me in the butt and get me working on it...LMAO!!!!
ugh.
Rosalie
12-07-2005, 10:29 AM
Good idea with the empty frames... you could keep them that way and just image a new picture in them each day. Cheap and easy!
Might try that myself, let me see.. Ah yes........ me and Heath Ledger, me and Mel, me and .....a new one every day..... sigh!

Doing our bir to keep alive the "bronzed Aussie" tradition. Hahahaha if only you knew my son. Good looking but hardly "bronzed" he hates the beach...doesn't like the sand! Never played footy ( wonky knees), hasn't hit a cricket ball since he was three and doesn't drink!
But HE LOVES VEGEMITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MarthaB
12-11-2005, 10:59 PM
Tim doesn't like the beach much either, neither do I , which is strange being a watersign and all, I love bush walking, I love the smell of the trees, love the animals we come across, it's also not so safe to be on the beach, unless you are lathered in sunscreen, which a lot of the young kids still refused to do, it's cool to have a tan, thank God more and more kids are using fake tans now, Australia has the highest rate of skincancer in the world, we have the slogan, slip slop slap, slip on a shirt, slop on a hat, and slap on some sunscreen, did I get that right Rosalie?

traceann
12-12-2005, 05:30 PM
Isn't that funny to not like the sand, lol. I used to live on the beach growing up and spent a lot of time on it -- by myself with my beach chair, radio and books - usually cookbooks. What can I say, I love to read cookbooks...lmao. I too have a hard time getting the "tan" thing out of my head. It's hard to do when it's so popularized and you did it for so long. I am trying to embrace the fake tan stuff, but really wish they'd invent a Tracey-proof one!! LMAO! But as nuts as it sounds, I never tan the face. Only did so once when I went to Mexico...I refuse now to do it, don't want wrinkles. Go figure - vanity over health. Same reason I quit smoking before and part of the reason I am quitting again -- don't want wrinkles and want to up the fertility odds, seems we have "deemed" next May/June to give it a shot....
Oh yes, I do love my Aussie men...keep up the good work ladies!!!!! ;)

But this scrapbooking stuff is compelling! I thought I would do a scrapbook for my son's 21st birthday and use it as a signature keepsake. The first couple of pages will be blank for his guests to sign and make comments.
I've finally finished the first page and would like any comments or suggestions before I move on.. Hahahaa only 20 more pages to go.

Campbell has always been train crazy and is even a member of a model train group. The train track at the bottom will carry through every page. As it is a double paged layout, the next page will have the locomotive, a carriage and the caboose. Each page (year) will pick up something significant from the page and the train will get more carriages as it goes through his life....This was my nieces idea and I love it.

Hon, I wldn't change a thing. It is amazing ! Now I really have to research using fonts etc from the computer. I am doing a double layout for my dad's brother who turns 65 yr old this year. I have something started, kinda a fact sheet. Want to use some funky font.
Do you download from a website or use what is available from your puter, and what type of paper do you use to print off.
Oh I'm in a scrap mood today .... yippy ! Hum also in a quilting mood, oh dear what will I do ?
Rosalie

Thank you Martha. I'm not working or running Hilz anywhere today so I will scrapbook ALL day..( with a break to get rid of some of the ironing Hahha!)
Jen, I went to some scrapbooking shops and bought the backing card. However, the cheapest place was BigW ,thanks Martha for that tip, and bought packets of plain and coloured, patterned papers at a tenth the cost. They are bulk packs too with four of each design. So I am using them as the page and picture borders. I've spread everything out and feel like the Queen of Sheeba surrounded by all this beautiful stuff.
No more eating on the dining room table to a LONG time!

Hi ...
How is the scraping coming ladies ? Roz..ya got your book done ... he he he. Sounds like you are on a mission. My workstation sounds like your dining room table.
Took an off day yesterday and went to my local favorite scrapbook supply store. 2 1/2 hours later I get home. It was just Janice (owner) and me there. She really helped me out. I got some amazing supplies that she just got in so had first dibs. I also took over my album that I have my ideas and supplies that I have collected and we put together some pretty neat complete supplies groupings. I worked on one today. The brain is just flowing with ideas right now, my body is saying something else like...lay down your sick ... damn IC, :headbang:
I also made some really cool coverings for my little Easter candy bags. They are just 2x3 inches so not big at all. What I made was kinda like a paper bag I guess you could say but I cut a square in the middle so you can actually see the candy. I'm having a heck of a time with mom's camera and the pictures I'm taking of them come out really dark. Will keep working on it and send when I have a good picture. I want to make a tonne more to give out at Easter time. A cool idea for Halloween too if you don't have alot of kids.
Oh do send any font websites. I did try to print on vellum today, layout not quite finished, will send pictures when done. That is such a cool thing to do, my print took a while to dry, learned that the first print, smugges everywhere. lol, second try turned out ok.
Here's the picture of my cousins little guy at Halloween last year. He is my little buddy !

I really need to get into scrapping again, my mood hasn't been to good lately and I haven't felt like it, what I really like to get into is the printing, you see where rosalie did the printing on that bow on campbells scrapbook, that's what I like to learn, I feel like such a dumbass sometimes, why can't I get the hang of that? gggrrr, anyway I want to show a page I just bought, and is my favourite, sorry if it a bit to big, I don't know how to get it smaller on photobucket,

In fact the other day I got a whole wack of new papges, cardstock, I think around 6 packages of brads, eyelets etc and a new set of stamps and it cost me $52 (cdn)

Yes Martha, I do believe Ro has been holding out on us...hmmmmmm...... I need to find myself a program called a Font Manager...from what I just read in my scrapbooking mag, more than 250 fonts can make your 'puter unhappy and not run very fast...I probably have double that - and that would explain alot!!!! ;)

Jen, your pages are worth framing! They are more like pieces of art than scrapbook pages.Have you ever submitted any to a magazine? I'm sure they would get published.
And Martha, I love those pages. Do you have a project in mind for them?
I had a very busy weekend and got another five pages done on my son's album. AT two pages per year I now only have another 37 to go! Hahhaa.I think I'll have to make it 1 page per year soon!
We also spent a lot of the weekend in the city enjoying all the celebrations going on for the Commonwealth Games which ended with the closing ceremony last night. The city was alive with people from all over the globe. Many areas were closed to traffic and there was just a sea of happy faces every way you turned. It was a beautiful balmy night and we watched water and light displays on the river, amazing acrobatics on the walls of the national Gallery and listened to music from many different bands. A great weekend.
I don't know why this first one won't resize.

It's in such disarray after all the projects we have been working on - seems everything got shoved in this room...lol.
And here's the bedroom: I wish I had before pics.... I had to do it in pieces as it's not that big of a room, lmao!!!

Tracey, what a delightful room. Do the double doors lead to a balcony or is it on the ground floor?
MarthaB
03-27-2006, 01:29 PM
:) Tracey, I'm sure that room will return back to normal once the renovations are done!, what happened to those pics? did you remove them?
Anyway I was snapping away last night, so here is a litle corner of my bedroom, my bedroom isn't big either, to be honest the whole house isn't big, but it a home to me,

Why thank you ladies... ;) Rosalie, nope that's the upstairs, and believe it or not, those are windows, lol. I am hoping as soon as we have $$ again (Hubby just went back to work yesterday!! Yippy!!) we can get closet doors instead of the curtains hanging there, lol. But for now, it works! Soon as I get some printer ink, I am printing off a bunch of photos to put on the dresser by the door. Still needs some touches here and there....
Oh Martha! What a great bedroom!! I had a small round table like that on either side of the bed!! But then, in the spirit of needing space to store stuff (lots and lots of books and my journals) hubby brought me the night table that's there now from his grandma's stuff. So round table left the building...lol. Huh, nope I didn't take down any pics that I am aware of... hmmm. As soon as I clean the bathroom, lol, I will take some finished shots of it.
I do hope things get back to normal soon, I can't find anything up there in that mess that is the craft room...ugh. My stuff is spread out all over the house...some stuff here on the desk, some stuff stored in my mom's room, lol. The nice thing is hubby wants space as well to work on his fly tieing, soooooo that means it will get done faster!!! LMAO!
And now I must go clean the drool off the keyboard after looking at those prices on all that stuff!!!!! WAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
;)

:) Tracey, I don't know what happened, I looked for those photo's and couldn't find them, and now they are back again, hhmmmm, I think i'm going :loco: hahaaaaaaaa those round tables,.. hubbie made them, they also got a shelf inside to hide all my magazines, I also got glass on the tables, because I got sick of washing the table cloths, so now I can just wiped them down,

Martha I just LOVE your doona cover! Its gorgeous, where did you get it? You won't mind if I can get one the same do you? And by the way, is that your hubby in the very right of the shot? Hahhaaaa... Did you have to tell him to scrunch over so you could take the picture? Is 'Overflow' one of your $2 shops? They are some fantastic bargains you have there!
traceann
03-29-2006, 02:32 AM
Oh that's funny Ro asking if that's Martha's hubby - when I was taking pictures of the bedroom he just HAD to come in and see what I was doing - so that meant me constantly saying "get out of the picture!" LMAO!!!! I have one as well where I caught his arm...lol! ;)
MarthaB
03-29-2006, 12:20 PM
:) Tracey seems like we had the same ideas! LOL, that is indeed my hubbie, only he didn't know I was taking this photo, he was dead to the world, hahaaaa,I knew Ro would pick it up, she is very observant our Ro, haha
Rosalie, I got my quilt cover in pillow talk, I buy most of my linen there, it was on special, I only buy things on special, hehe, I got 2 ''iceblue'' handtowels for $5.95 each instead of the normal price of $12.95 last sunday, the week before that I got a set of 2 blue towels, 2 handtowels, and 2 facewashers in K-mart on special for 20 bucks instead of the normal 40 dollars.
Ro, maybe you could print out that photo and take it to your pillowtalk store, that way you know what you are looking for, .... and yes ''overflow'' is one of the dollar stores I love to go to, they have some great bargains, and they are getting more and more craftstuff in.
here is the pillowtalk catalogue for this week, those handtowels I mentioned are in there, go to towels, and then go to page number 3,

Unfortunately, we don't have 'Pillowtalk' shops in Vic. I might email them and see if they have a 'sister' shop in Melb. I'm with you on the only buying on 'special'. I've even gotten the kids into the habit..they find what they want and wait till it comes on sale. Hahahaa..

Ok I have completed a few more pages to this album but am now in desperate need of more ideas.
Had a Major meltdown on the computer this morning and lost all the photos that I had scanned in for this project over 60 og them including images I had photoshopped to use as well. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
When I went to upload to the thread, the whole file just vanished! :cussing:
It must be floating out there in cyberspace...if any of you see it please send it back home!
Just as well I hadn't gotten around to deleting them all from the scanning program that I was using. However, that meant spending valuable scrapbooking time on recreating and re saving the folders. Grrrrrrr!

Hi ladies ...
Sorry I've haven't been chatting last few days. Pretty stressfull around here. My niece was in the hopsital last Thursday to have a needle biopsy done on a cyst that is on her pancreas. They had to go through her lung to get to the cyst which caused a hole in her lung and how having problems getting the lung complete inflated again. She went to her surgeon yesterday and they are not really sure what this is. They are going with pancreatitis at this point but she will be undergoing a whole whack of tests to rule out everything else and hopefully from these tests determin what caused the pancreatitis. So, Auntie Jen has been by her side and worried sick about her. Anyway.....
Everyones work is just beautiful. Your son's book is coming along wonderful. He is just going to love it ! Too funny, I have the exact same "Grandma" paper and I'm collecting stuff to do a page on her.
Yesterday I needed some retail therapy and it was horrible weather outside so ebay here I came ... OMG ... scrapbooking stuff galore and amazing prices but man oh man do you have to be ontop of your bid if you want it. You can think you have won and within seconds of the auction ending some scraper comes in an scoops up the item. Nasty !!!!!!!!!!
Rosalie ... Thankyou for your comments. I have actually tried to submit a page to a magazine, can't remember which one, but couldn't figure out how to get it done. I got confused and said ah ta heck with it.
traceann
04-05-2006, 03:39 AM
Hey Jen, try Creating Keepsakes, they I think are fairly easy to submit too... I think. I do hope Jess's lung gets on the mend quickly...ugh.
Ok, now I am afraid to check ebay for scrapping stuff...sounds deadly dangerous!!! ;)
Rosalie
04-05-2006, 04:48 AM
Jen sorry to hear about your niece. I hope everything works out well for her. I'm with Tracey on the deadly ebay.... I can get into a frenzy with the darn thing! Too late! I'm just going to have to check out the scrapbooking stuff.

:) Jen, I'm very sorry to hear about your niece, hope all goes well for her, I had some bad news myself yesterday, my sister-in -law in Holland got diagnosed with MS, she had symptoms for a couple of years in her arm and hand, the doc thought she had a tennis-elbow and sent her to psychio, but it didn't get better, so she went to see a specialist in hospital, they did a MRI and found white spots on her brain, which is a indicator of MS, she is also starting to have problems with one of her eyes.
Rosalie
04-06-2006, 02:52 AM
Martha, I am so sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. I don't know a lot about MS other than it can be helped with treatment. The mother of Hilz friend has it and so far, is still living a normal life. I hope the medicos can help your SIL.

Oh darn, had a whole note here ready, darn kitten decided he wanted to play with my typing fingers and hit the "gone to cyberspace" button.
Ok, where was I ...
So sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. I had an Aunt that lived a long health life and she has MS. There where a few things that she wasn't able to do but that didn't stop her. Medication kept the MS under control.
Happy to report my niece is feeling much better. She is getting less and less pain when breathing so her lung must be getting back to full working capacity. Another xray tomorrow to make sure. I think she is coming out tonight, I need a Jessica fix and she needs an Aunt Jen fix ... that and we want to figure out where we want our treehouse built. She will be 17 this summer and we are having so much fun at this stage of her life. She is 17 going on 25, more logic in that girl than most adults I know.
ebay, come to me, Tracey, Martha, Rosaline....ebay....ebay...ebay !

Oh no...you..................can't...................sway................ .....meeeeeeeeeeeeeee........oh.......ebay sounds nice........ very nice indeed........

:) thanks guys, she is injecting herself with something, not sure what it's called, and she has to see the specialist on the 28th this month, I am sure with the right treatment she will have this under control!
I'm glad your niece is doing so well, Jen, now go and build that treehouse, LOL !!

:) Rosalie, I really love those pages, did you do those books on the first page with your program??
and how do you do the lettering?? I do my lettering with fonts, I choose the font I want,( I make sure the font is easy to cut out), and then enlarge it to the size I want, you have been doing a lot of pages lately, that's why you are getting sick of it, Campbell birthday is not untill july so you still got nearly 3 months, give it a break and you might come up with more ideas in the meantime, and you might feel like doing more then,..... I don't really do the one specific album, I do a page of whatever strikes me at that time, I will get more albums later on so I can sort out all the pages then, and put them in order,.... last week ''the warehouse'' had a sale of 2 scrapbook albums for $9.95, what a bargain, and I forgot to get some, BUMMER!!!

A couple of images I have sourced from the internet but I don't know what I'd do without my wonderful program. I'm going to keep going with the project. You see, I know myself and if I put it away to finish later, wellll.......lets just say that tomorrow never comes around here Hahahaa!

Well, you are doing a lovely job of it! I worried about that a bit as well, but decided if it really appealed to me, it must be my style!! LMAO!!!!! Keep on truckin'!!!! :)
This is a 2 page layout I made about the doggie we just had to give away. She was a stray and we kept her for 8 months, but she just wrought so much destruction and just general "want to pull your hair out" that we had to pass her on. Anyway, here are the 2 pages:

:) Tracey, I think you are absolutely right, if we like the lay-out it must be our style,...sometimes I see pages in those scrapmags and they are too full or too messy for my liking, I am more the tidy page kind of girl, haha....
Kim, welcome back to the scrappers forum, I have missed your wonderful pages, I love your latest pages, that dog looks like a bit of a rascal!!, don't be a stranger, we would love to see more!!

LOL
Yep, that's my feelings too Martha, the stuff that catches my eye, is the stuff I really like, so I figure, it's "me", and try to incorporate that sort of thing. At first I felt like maybe I am just using other people's ideas - ok, yep, it's scraplifting, lol, but the more I do the more it'll start to make me get creative and come up with my own ideas! I hope... lol

Martha, you're getting to be quite the scrapbooker. I'm very impressed. Your pages will make a wonderful album when you get them all together.
And Kim 'the first day at school ' is so momentus that it could probably take a whole album. Your little fella looks so relaxed and happy to be there. My daughter clung to my leg and had to be peeled off. And it didn't get must better after that! She's now in year 12 and very pleased to be getting out and off to university (hopefully!)
And now I shall move to the new thread that Kim has started. See you over there!

I use flickr and photo bucket, the thing I found with photobucket is that you cannot do any downsizing, well at least not that I know off !, I found flickr much easier to do.
They are all lovely pages, thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much ladies, you are too kind. I've been so busy last few days I haven't had any "girlie" time at all. That is gonna change today...lol
I must try out this flickr stuff. Thanks for the directions. Sounds pretty simple and that I like.
My ideas just kinda come to me but I do have to be in the mood and when I am, look out. I'm become a creating machine. I have a couple that I must get working on, they are gifts for people. I do get Creative Keepsaking magazine and they have alot of great layout ideas there. The odd time Better Homes and Gardens will come out with come good scrapbook magazines. I also get alot of newsletters from different scrapbooking company sites or scrapbook book/magazines ties. You always get great ideas there too. That is where I get alot of my card ideas too, take the scrapbook layout and make is smaller, much smaller. Speaking of cards, mothers day is around the corner best be getting them made and ready.

:) Ok, so I did get those scrapping pages on special, saved $20.00 bucks, and then I went out to my local scrapping place and got myself some foam alphabet stamps, the large and the smaller letters, I'm wrapped :woohoo: , I did look at e-bay to see what they where going for but the one with the big letters I bought was already nearly $20.00 and bidding was still going, add postage to that and they end up very expensive, I bought my set in the shop for $21.95 and the shop is only 3 minutes in the car from my place, I cannot wait to start using them,

Go for it Ro, I love those specials, and that cardstock the 50 in a pack is good quality, nice and strong!!

Oh I LOVE those stamps. Mine are from Making Memories too but really different. Hum, must watch for them. They run around $20 +- around here too. Depends on where you get them.
I discovered a new scrapbook store in London which is a city around an hour from me. There is another store in London which I go to often. I just found this new one on a website when looking for a product that was advertised in a magazine. They listed the stores that sold the product and poof there was this store. Went into their website and it looks amazing, problem is way the heck the other side of town, oh well. Actually in the area where I used to live. Anyway..........I have a uro appointment next week, maybe I will make a left turn instead of the right I'm suppose to make after the appointment, who knows where I will end up :ignore: Just what I need, another scrapbook store on my list.... :help:
So excited, yesterday in the mail I got 140 scrapbook pages from ebay and I just LOVE them. :woohoo: So different from what you'd get around here. I also got some doggie emblishments and some bumble bee brads. Now I can get to work on my Uncles page as I now have everything needed. All I need is a cool yucky day and I believe that is what the weatherman is predicting for the weekend, this must be my lucky day !
Hey, what brand are those alphabet stamps??? I LOVE them!!!!!! :) Duh - I just saw they are "Making Memories". I'll have to try to find those sometime.......

Do you go on ebay at all ? I was in there this afternoon and Making Memory stamps are cheap ! You can see all the different styles, there are tonnes of them.
Here is the Making Memories website check it out ...

Oh man oh man I need a trip to Aussie for scrapbook supplies.... :biglaugh: Those magazines, are they from the same company as the card ones ? I must do some research on them. I just picked up Better Homes and Garden's new scrapbook edition, it was ok, it is one of those yay/nay magazines.
LOVE the new page, Martha. Is the middle section with the captions one sheet of paper or was it a sticker or something ? It is so cool ! And I love how you used the flowers on the page too. I have a good stash of flowers now, just have them in a vase on display, when I need one I head on over and snip one off.
LOL, your foam stamps look like mine, all in a bunch. I just put each set in a small plastic container. Wish I cld find something that had 26 sections and big enough for each stamp but that would be getting to organized. Rubber stamps for $2....geesh, you do have luck with the bargins don't you ! I did go into ebay and took a look at the rubber foam stamps, OMG, I got myself lost there where so many. Didn't get any ..... yet .... :biglaugh: but I'm seeing it happening in the near future. I want to wait until I get what I've bought already in the mail, to many items to watch and I get myself confused. Last week I got my one order of papers, 140 sheets and I just love them all. So neat because they all kinda go together. The one page that I did today of my Grandma and me, I used some of the paper. I have another order of around 150 sheets coming, half being all Christmas. I know, I know, what the heck am I gonna do with all this paper, but it was such a good price, I cldn't pass it up. Combining the two orders I bet I saved, oh, $100 if not more.
I got creative today and did a couple pages, will have to get the camera out tomorrow and get some pics.
Oh yes, do check out ebay, bargins galore !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and you have the convience of shopping from home !!!!!!!!

Jen, you can NEVER have too any pages or indeed anything to do with crafting. Sooner or later you will need something and there it will be.
Martha, that is a gorgeous page and I have borrowed about 20 of those magazines from my niece. They are just chockers with information.
To store my stamps I went to the $2 shop and bought some shallow plastic storage boxes. They are about 5cms deep. Being clear plastic, you can see the image on both sides of the stamp. And being shallow they don't jumble up too much either.
I subscribe to "Creating Keepsakes" scrapbooking magazine and LOVE it - it'd definitely my favorite. Check it out sometime. :) I also like to shop at "Scrapper's Haven" online - good stuff.

:) thanks girls,... no those scrapmags are australian, the card mags are from the UK.
The middlesection with the captions on that page is just what I cut out from a patterned paper, I very rarely use a whole sheet of patterned paper, I use the plain colour in the background and use the pp to decorate it, I find it a waste to put photo's on pp because it hides it, I like to use it around photo's.
Oh and those flowers are all the leftovers I kept over the years, I picked up 2 bags of pink and yellow flowers for $ 4.00 , they would charge triple for that in a scrapshop.
Kim I have seen those mags, and they are good, lots of info in that one too, I think it's similar to our version, and scrappers haven I know of too, been on that site a few times, never bought anything though, I'm very wary of using my credit card on-line.
thanks for the tips of storing the foam stamps, i will have a look in Crazy Clarks, ( 2 dollar store) and see what I can find!!
And Jen, I agree!! you can never have enough paper girl!!

Oh that is a great idea for storing those foam stamps. Will have to look for some myself.
I get the Creating Keepsakes magazine too. Yes it is full of wonderful ideas and information. There are a couple really good magazine shops in Sarnia that carry the Austrialian magazines. I must check them a little closer when I go next and see what they have.
I was so excited yesterday. I got my package of 1200 eyelets in the mail, one of my ebay purchases. One package was Rudolph, I just LOVE them. To more items to come and then maybe I will have to do some shopping again, can't take away the excitment of getting presents in the mail !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks martha, in the second page Campbell was in the trucks..taken at an old mine in Burra SA. I used photoshop and had two layers of the same photo. The top layer I altered giving a painted effect and then I erased where CJ was. The effect is that he is in normal detail and the surroundings having the painted effect. It doesn't show up that well in the photo. I hope to use photoshop some more in the album.

Yep...I have been a Treker since the very beginning. I was in High School when the first series began. Boy, is that hard to admit. :lmao: I was fascinated with Spock. Not a crush...just thought he was cool and mysterious. I miss Star Trek since they decided not to continue with them. I loved all the different ones. The Next Generation was my favorite. I wonder if they will make any more movies or start another series :hmm:

I am so excited, :woohoo: I got the quickutz system last Monday. Started out with a few basic shapes and one letter set. Having a blast with them. Went into their website and OMG, so many symbols and shapes to choose from. I did a "scrapbook" tour on Monday and everybody was having sales, great...like I need more paper....:dizzy: The shop that got me started in this craft is having her anniversary sale this weekend too, must go check it out. :help:

New pages are called, Cassidy and Mom, Louise and....(lol, I can't for the life of me remember the ladies name who else is in these pictures, page I did for my mom)

Rosaline, your pages are just wonderful too. I have my cousins girl this afternoon. She is six and sent me an email this week, cld her and I do a scrapbook page for her friend. Now how many 6 year olds wld ask to do a "scrapbook" page. Oh I giggled, but this we are talking about a little someone that was concerned about how many calories her new kitten should get in one day. Anyway I purchases some fun paper yesterday and we will have a blast. Here is a link for a double layout that I did for my Uncle who turns 65 first of June. My hubby made the frame for me and I stained, painted and antiqued it.

Oh Rosaline...I didn't tell you, took a quilt class a couple weeks ago and it was the class from $&#*($#*( .... I will never return to that place, well other than the one day to finish. She was so unorganized, snotty and to book everything we did we did wrong, after following her instructions. It was horrible and I know she didn't get my fabric in the places where I wanted it. Oh my it was horrible. Another lady in the class takes classes alot right now and she said it has been like this for 6 months now. I know business isn't all that great in there so I would imagine she will be closing down soon. She doesn't keep up with the quilting trends, everything is about queen size quilts in there and that is it. Well not gonna fly in this area.

Jen, what a wonderful idea for a birthday gift!. That page is very interesting. Did you already have the photos or did you have to scrounge from family? Hahaha.
And I think it's wonderful that a 6year old is being so creative. I hope you have a great time making her pages together.
What an awful thing to happen at your quilting class! And I suppose that you had paid money for that? Sounds like the woman has lost the plot.
Bumping this up for the new scrapbookers among us. (I think I had edited out most of my photos so it didn't bog the thread down.... There might be some left late in the thread....)
Actually, since this one is so long I think I'll close it for posts since there is a second thread people can participate on. Folks can still look at the layouts on this thread, though. :)
