Another Public Relations Success!!!!!!

Ok, since becoming an Angel of the Airwaves under BabsRN's command, I have written to all of my local TV stations, and the Winston-Salem Journal (our local paper).

Today, I received the following letter via email from the Winston-Salem Journal:

Dr. Olson:

Your letter about IC was forwarded to me. I am interested in doing something on this, however, I am up to my eyeballs in a project now and may not get around to this until late November. Would you be available to talk about your experience as someone with IC? Obviously, I would also like to set something up with a urologist at the hospital, but I will go through PR to set that up.

I encourage anyone who feels up to the task to write to your local paper -- send it as a letter to the editor (most papers' websites have email addresses for their editors, and the editor will forward it to an appropriate reporter). Who knows, you just might get them to do it too!!!!! :D

I also sent in a letter to my local paper the Odessa American and I was contacted by a reporter that had done a story on me once before, during my malpractice case. And he is intrested in a two sided story, human intrest and medical. I am pretty sure he will do it, he is the editor-in chief, who befriended my family when I almost died following the botched hyterctomy which damaged my bladder. I won that case and the Doctor who operated on me (under the influence of cocain) is no longer practicing. So he and I have a past and he knows I am not BSing him. SO , one more for the Good Guys!!!!!! Will let all know when it happens. I also gave him JIlls contact info and website addy.

Great job Jen! The more people that know about this the better it is. My mom has even come around the last few years to being a little more understanding. I really think it is a very misunderstood disease and until all this pr started happening we were living in the dark ages with this.

Thank you, Jen! Bravissima to you! I think it is a great victory whenever we get a little more information about IC out to the public!

I'm not being as active as you, but I'm really trying in my own way - whenever I go to a doctor about my IC, I print out articles about IC and take them with me to give to the doctor. Trying to make sure doctors have some updated info about IC...
