Ouch!

I was up all night, pacing and crying from the pain. I have Pancreatitis, that thankfully has left me alone for about 6 months... but in the past have spent way to much time throwing up any and everything that went in my mouth.(Sorry, gross... :biglaugh: ) Because of that, my teeth are absolutely shot... with no dental insurance, they're just getting worse.

Anyway... I had a lower tooth break last week, but no pain, so I didn't worry about it. Last night it hit, HARD! I almost went to the E.R., but knew that a Friday night was not going to be a quick trip. I didn't want to spend hours there, pacing and crying, when I could just as easily do it at home.

Anyway... I called a dentist this morning, and they actually had an opening first thing. On a Saturday? Thank the Lord! He took one look at my mouth, and out came the tooth. He also said that he can get my "state" insurance to pay for all of the extractions I need, over $1200.00 worth- and will work with me to get an upper denture put in.

As awful as it sounds at my young age, 42, I am THRILLED! I am SO tired of being in pain, afraid to smile, and sick because of rotten teeth. Not to mention that getting pain meds with a mouth that looks like a crack addict has not been easy...

The best part? I ran out of my IC pain meds last week, and docs office hasn't ok'd the refill yet. The dentist gave me plenty of Vicodin to get me through at least 5 days, and hopefully doc will have my refill ready by then.

I killed three birds with one stone today... got the bad tooth out, a great new dentist that's willing to help with the rest of them, and pain meds for the weekend. :woohoo:

Hey Brat... Whatever happened with YOUR bad tooth? Did I miss the update? Hope it's better now!

Missy,
Toothaches are the pits! I'm glad you found a cool new dentist that is willing to help you rebuild your smile. Hope the extraction site feels better soon.

Hugs,

Thanks Barb... but what are you doing on here? Aren't you supposed to be "Partying like it's your birthday? LOL! Hey, do me a favor and have some cake and ice cream for me, will ya? I'm not eating anything but Cream of Wheat tonight, and I'm hungry!!!! WAH... normally I don't even usually want sweets, but since I know I can't have them tonight, I'm craving them. Typical! :)

I am on here because right now it is just me and the TV. Lindsey went to bed at eight and since my favorite Saturday night TV show(Cops) got pre-empted by the baseball game, I decided to hop back on the computer again. Cream of Wheat, mmmmm. I have a little bit of birthday cake, want some? Oh yeah and if you hadn't guessed, kind of a Saturday night homebody.

Take care of that mouth there, chicke.

Hugs,
Barb :grouphug:

'Morning All...

I have to say, the "socket" is much better today. Still hurts, but just a dull ache, which I can deal with. I'm trying to stay away from the Vicodin if I can, I'm hung over from taking so much yesterday. Not used to taking 2 every 4 hours... Pain meds don't usually affect me at all, Loopy wise, guess between the stress and trauma of the tooth, and no sleep for two nights, I'm just a bit draggy.

I HAVE to get some things done today, I start a two week temp assignment tomorrow, so all of the "weekday" stuff has to be done today. Laundry, shopping, cleaning, etc. Hubby is off for two days, but he's not allowed to shop OR do laundry... tee hee!

Barb, send that cake over! I'm hungry...

Brat, hope you get those teeth under control. Tooth pain is the worst! And with what dentists charge, how can we afford to take care of them? I'll have to look into the "Home Gel"- Lord knows the OTC stuff is a total waste of time!

Yeesh Missy! Sorry to hear you have had such a rough go with the teeth. Cripes, what it cost to go to the dentist, I can't remember the last time I was at one! Most likely over 6 years ago...oh gosh. Guess I'd better get my butt an appt. Need a new one, so should make the "initial appt"..ugh. Hate going to the dentist!!! I think gynos and dentists should combine pratices, get two birds killed with one stone that way. The two most dreaded appts combined into one! ;)

Oh geez Brat, you have had awful luck too! Both of you get better soon!!! :)

Hugs!
