View Full Version : The Best Birthday Ever

Chris called me from Iraq first thing this morning--he actually remembered my birthday. They were waiting for the polls to shut down in Mosul, and he said it was a very peaceful process. We had the best conversation, no ugliness, cutdowns, nothing. I think we are working toward making our relationship renewed and refreshed, probably better than it ever has been. Granted it doesn't erase some of the issues, however I can feel secure in knowing that we are both willing to do the hard work to keep our relationship alive. He never says he loves me when he calls from the office, today he said it 4 times in under 10 minutes. So this year, my birthday is starting to feel like a rebirth--between pain management and the new uro, and our renewed love I can see nothing but better times ahead.

Hugs,
Barb :grouphug:

Yup Lori, it is. One of my friends from the unit just called and said that a bunch of the wives are bringing all the fixings for a birthday party to my house tonight. She said, "You are always cooking meals for people, driving people places, triage the sick kids on the phone and never ask anything in return. In fact most of time when you help us you feel like crap yourself but drive on. It is the least we could do." I am so touched, and didn't know people felt that way, I just like to pay it forward, you know? I thought in the group I run with that I was the one they looked at as the "sick one." Now I am trying to type with tears running down my face.

Hugs,
Barb :grouphug:

Oh cripes, I am so sorry I didn't see this sooner!! But I must wish you a Belated :birthday:

I am so glad you got to talk to hubby and it was a great chat! Feels good doesn't it??? :kissing: I am so happy you guys are doing good and working hard, keep up the good work! So nice when both are doing all they can :woohoo: Sadly I have had my share of "one-sided only me trying to fix everything in the relationship" experiences. :cussing:

Isn't it funny how bouncing back from a crisis of that sort, we notice the little things? Like the "multiple" I love you's, (that's so damn cool too by the way! ;) ), and how we hold onto them?? :hmm: ;)

Oh, listen to me, :biglaugh: going on this way! :bonk: Hope you enjoyed your birthday, and I agree I see brighter days ahead for you and your family!

HUGS! :)
