Do you know what it means if you have had high GGT levels for years...and than all of the sudden it takes a major drop but your Alk Phos is high? I mean does this mean liver dammage is happened?? My triglycerides also took a major leap.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Well, it definately can mean some sort of liver disease, but it could be a temporary thing and your liver functions are just "off". I've had a high ggt that became normal after I stopped taking so much tylenol.
Sometimes a high alk phos can mean bone or the liver has been damaged in some way. Very high triglyceride levels can mean some sort of liver damage, especially when you add all 3 together.
I'm not trying to scare you by telling you these things....these are things that so called doctor should have told you!!
This all just reaffirms my thought that you need to be seen NOW, not in December!!!

Did you have any other blood work done? An ALT or AST, bilirubin level?

Katrina,
I found a really good website that explains all the labs. GGT and alkphos elevations are common in people with colitis. The name of the site is fpnotebook.com.
Will keep researching, though.

I just saw your post. I am not a nurse or medical professional at all, but just wanted to tell you that I have heard that Elmiron can cause liver panels to be elevated too. I am not sure how it all works, but hopefully one of the nurses will know. But, I do remember someone here having that happen with Elmiron and then when she discontinued it, her labs returned to normal. I dont know if that is what always happens, or if hers was a fluke. I just dont know. But I remember reading about it here a few months ago.
So, please dont be alarmed yet. I know that is easier said than done! I wish I could tell you for sure, but hopefully one of our nurses can tell you.
I would definately call your Dr. tomorrow and ask. I cant belive they'd just send you this (or tell you this) and then not give you any other information! That just seems so irresponsible and unbelievably cruel!
I will say a prayer for you right now that everything turns out okay.......Okay, I just said one. I prayed that everything will turn out okay and that God will calm your fears until you find out for sure.
If you talk to the Dr. before someone answers on here, please post and let us know what they say. I'll be thinking of you.
Many hugs,
Amy

I know when I was on Elimiron, they scared the heck out of me and something was wrong with my liver, I was having pains and tenderness also where the liver is located. They retested me a month later, and everything was back to normal. I hope everything works out.
