Hello everyone. I wanted to give an update. I hope you don't mind.
Not too long ago, I have had two bouts of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, but am now in remission. I never had any loss of urine, etc. I just had horrible pain. At times I thought I had IC...my pain was so similar to the posters here at this site. I never had frequent urination though. Both problems started after a UTI. I now take an antibiotic after sex to prevent UTI. I am doing fine now (knock on wood). I have no pelvic pain (Thank goodness. I am grateful). I posted this in the remission thread, but wanted to mention it here as well.
I was treated with pelvic floor therapy and I was given a tricyclic antidepressant called Desipramine. This medication is similar to Elavil. I was also given Percocet to take as needed. I'm very fortunate that my neuro gave me medication to help with pain. I have a kind urologist as well. I had many symptoms similar to IC. I usually followed the diet just to be on the safe side. The pelvic floor issues were about as close as a person could get. The pain was horrible and I found myself frequently depressed.
I think this site is absolutely wonderful!!! I think IC and pelvic floor issues are more painful than some people realize. I have migraines and these things are very similar. I have total sympathy for every woman here. I relate to many of the posts here. I am very grateful that my pain seems to be gone. For those with pelvic pain, if your treatment is not working, you might want to talk with your Dr.'s about the medications and treatment that worked for me.
I pray for each and every one of you.
Please keep the faith. Amen! God Bless!
