View Full Version : I'm in remission
I've had two bouts with Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. I'm not sure if the doctors were ever sure of my dx. I had a very severe bladder infection and afterwards I had severe pelvic pain that would not abate. I was treated with pelvic floor therapy and I was given a tricyclic antidepressant called Desipramine. This medication is similar to Elavil. I was also given Percocet to take as needed. I'm very fortunate that my neuro gave me medication to help with pain. I have a kind urologist as well. I had many symptoms similar to IC. I usually followed the diet just to be on the safe side. The pelvic floor issues were about as close as a person could get. The pain was horrible and I found myself frequently depressed. I think this site is absolutely wonderful!!! I think IC and pelvic floor issues are the worst things in the world. I have total sympathy for every woman here. I can totally relate to the posts here. I am very grateful that my pain seems to be gone. For those with pelvic pain, if your treatment is not working, you might want to talk with your Dr.'s about the medications and treatment that worked for me. God Bless. :) Keep the faith! Amen.

Thank you for sharing your good news! It's bound to be encouraging for those who are in the process of being in therapy for PFD.

Did Desiprimine give you any retention? What dosage are you on? Do you take percoset every day?
I'm not sure if the Desipramine gave me retention. I tend to think it didn't. In fact, I did have a test and it showed that I was not retaining any urine. I was taking 100 mgs. of Despramine and got a little relief. Ironically, I took more Desipramine for depression and that is when I got total relief for my PFD. I took the Percocet frequently. It seems the Despramine is what helped me the most. It is almost the same thing as Elavil, but the neurologist believes it might be better for PFD.
