I think I've finally broken my urologist down and he's agreed to let me have a cystoscopy. Apparently a nurse is going to call me back tomorrow to set up an appointment, but when I asked my doctor how long of a recovery time I would need after the procedure, he told me "none"; that I'd be able to go about my daily routine right away. From what I've heard from reading your posts, though, the cystocopy sounds like it can be a little uncomfortable, even downright painful. What was the procedure like for you?

Hello there,

I had cystoscopy done a few months ago. Don't you just love doctors! Easy for them to tell you you'll be fine, but have they ever had cystoscopy? I would suggest taking the day off if you work. When I had mine done I urinated blood for a few days and had some serious burning. The procedure itself was a bit uncomfortable.

Hope it all works out for you!

You definately need to plan on resting the rest of the day. You should also have something on hand for spasms. Praying everything goes good for you.

I have a few in office cysto's all they do is cath you and look into your bladder. Are you talking about having a hydrodestion and cystocopy in the hospital undersedation?

If you're having a hydrodistention with the cystoscopy in a hospital operating room, you should plan on resting for a few days. If it's a cystoscopy performed in the doctor's office, it's a different story. When I have had an office cysto, I worked at the hospital across the street from my uro's office and I went directly back to work. I was a little uncomfortable for a few hours, but not bad.

It's much easier if you can relax. What helps me to relax is to concentrate on my breathing and on consciously letting all of my muscles "hang loose."
