Ok I really am on a roll today ( can you tell I am feeling much better :) )
Just thought if anyone had seen or met anyone famous? Or do you live somewhere thay have made a movie or film clip of something?
If you have nothing better to do with your time , like me today, tell us about it.
I seen Kylie Minouge ( singer ) at the Melbourne airport years ago & when in Hawaii at the age of 17 yrs I seen this guy that was in either Young & the Restless or Days of our Lives but I have no idea what his name was. There that was my brush with fame :woohoo:
Thought might be some fun, I am sick of thinking about IC.

:) hi Andrea, I thought about that a lot too, it would be cool to get to meet some one famous, George Clooney will do for me, I use to like Tom Cruise a lot but I have gone off him, since the argument he had about Brooke Shields taking anti depressants while suffering with anti natal depression, what a dickhead, :loco: he should not argue about something he knows nothing about, Martha

Does anyone remember Joe Penny who was Jake in Jake and the Fatman and he played in Riptide, several Lifetime movies, and the Sopranos? He's my cousin. He came to our last family reunion and it was a big deal for us here in Jacksonville, AL!

By the way, I used to like Tom Cruise also but not any more! Where does he get off telling Matt Lauer he doesn't know about the history of psychiatry? How in the heck does Cruise know what Matt Lauer does or does not know?

Don't you all laugh at me but I have met someone famous. I met Donny Osmond. Yes, you read that right, Donny Osmond. A radio station back in Columbus, Ohio had him appear at a new "night club" just down the street from where we were living at the time. I had waited for YEARS, (since the Osmonds first came out with their song "One Bad Apple" way back in the 70's) to meet him. I finally got the chance and I was so star struck that I could barely say anything to him except "Hi, my name, and Thank You very much". He was signing autograph pictures. I have seen him many, many, many times in concert. I drag my cousin along with me who is NOT a Donny fan.
I don't know if you would call this person famous or not. But has anyone out there ever hear Lee Middleton of Lee Middleton Original Dolls? If there are any doll collectors out there in IC land, then you may have heard of the dolls. Anyway, she was my 1st cousin on my mother's side. I say was because she passed away back in "97". He doll company is still going but it is all under new ownership.
I think that is it for famous people I have met, unless you count the time I almost bumped into Porter Wagner down in Nashville. I have seen alot of famous singers in concert though. People like Alan Jackson, Sawyer Brown, Marie Osmond, Sandi Patti (Christian singer), Herman's Hermits, and others.
Sorry for getting carried away, but I type messages and emails like I talk. Alot!
Take Care,
Kim H

Yeh, I don't care for Ton Crusie either. I never really liked him much except for in the movie Risky Business. I don't agree with his remark about Brooke Shields, either. He has No idea what she went through. I don't know what she went through either. Marie Osmond also went through the Post Partum Depression as well, and she got medication too, I think. Sure, he has a right to his opinion, but he should have kept that to himself. And I do remember hearing him tell Matt Lauer that he didn't know about psychiatry. Like I said, I have never went through it because I was not able to have children so we just adopted back on feb. 28, 05. But I am sure it can be a terrible feeling. And I say, if they need meds. then by all means get meds. if it will help you.
Kim H
Kim H - I live very near the Lee Middleton Doll Factory. In fact, this summer I took my boys on a tour of the factory and got to see how the dolls are made. :)
I have met the rock band "LiVE" twice. And one of those times was Friday night after their show in Cleveland. Very cool, down to earth guys. :)

Let's see --- it's been a long time and many of you won't even know about the ones I mention, but here goes: I briefly met Robert Kennedy about a week before he was murdered. Ward Bond, who starred in an old TV show (Wagon Train) is from my home town. I only met him once, but when I was a kid, I had his hand-me-down sled with his name carved on the bottom. I saw Ronald Reagan, but didn't actually meet him, when he visited Iowa --- his nickname there was Dutch Reagan.

My ex-husband did construction work for Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones. He & his wife threw a "thank-you" party for all the workers and their significant others. He was cordial and posed for photos with everyone... mingled with us regular folks! Michael Bolton's (remember him? the singer?)
daughter attended the school I teach at in Westport, Ct. and he was a frequent visitor. (also very friendly!) Paul Newman lives in Westport and goes to the local shops and restaurants. He will talk with you but will not sign autographs. That's about it for my world! liz

You'll probably have to be older to remember this one, but I met Dennis Weaver. He leaned toward cowboy characters. Used to see Willie Nelson quite a bit back when I lived near him. Mickey Gilley sang for me once. And the only other person I can think of is Andy Rooney. I was seated next to him about a year ago. He was definitely 'in character' and I wonder to this day if it was natural or just an act.
Ditto on the Tom Cruise thing. I admit I am suspicious of the ever growing number of children who are now medicated. But I think he went way, way over the line with his comments. I do think it's good that people are talking about it though.
Vicki
I've never met anyone famous, but have seen Jerry Seinfeld and David Copperfield perform. I saw Orville Redenbacher and the 60s group Sha-na-na at the annual Popcorn Festival in the town I went to college. Almost saw Berry Williams "Gregg Brady" from the Brady Bunch at my college, but there was no more room in the auditorium. Bummer! Gave directions to a Melissa Etheridge concert on my campus, but did not see it. Bummer, too! Mickey Rooney played the Wizard in a performance of Wizard of Oz that I saw.
Seems like friends/family have had closer brushes with fame. My friend use to work at a restaurant that Chris Farley (I miss him and Phil Hartman) and Tom Arnold use to come to. My brother saw Mikail Gorbechav go by in a limo right in front of him, roll down the window, and wave, when he visited St. Paul, MN.
And, this is the best, my father in law was an extra in the Tom Hanks/Paul Newman gangster movie "Road to Perdition". There is one scene in the movie in a library. My father in law is in the scene with his back towards the camera reading a newpaper as Tom Hanks walks by. We had a party to celebrate his "acting" career. He was in a lot of scenes, but this is a close up one where we can definitely tell it is him. He had a good time! Made a whole 60 something dollars from Dreamworks! We always tease him that he will have a True Hollywoods Story someday to talk about his humble beginnings, rise to fame, crash, and new life. Kind of strange, though, they were told not to approach or talk, not even say hello, to Tom Hanks at all. Pretty much they were told to act as if Tom Hanks was a bit of a diety.
My sister-in-law was an extra in a movie with Kirstie Alley, but unfortunately it did not come out.

My husband's parents did a bit part in the movie, "Isn't it shocking" with Alan Alda. They played a farmer and his wife, with father-in-law standing in the door of the hay loft and mother-in-law on a tractor. She spent her money she earned on a new girdle! Not sure what he did with his.
And hubby's uncle was part of a soldier when he was a boy --- the movie was a Buster Keaton silent called, "The General" --- the uncle played a confederate soldier for half of the day and union the other half. We have a copy of the film, but can't begin to find him in the dusty crowd.
Guess that's our claim to fame.

I met the Dalai Lama on his last visit to Australia. My sister was on the tour organizing committee and was allowed to bring one guest to meet him. I was sure impressed!
Later that day while I was waiting for her in the car park I saw Guy Pearce (LA Confidential etc) sneeking out a side door... he is a buddhist too.

Me personally have met no one, lol. I just missed Mike Reno from the band Loverboy when I went to a concert over at The Castle in Charlevoix here in MI. My girlfriend and I were going to stop at party store for something, but ended up goind somewhere else first, then back to there. When we got to the concert that evening we ran into a friend of ours who told us how she met him in the same darn store were going to! If we had stopped there first as planned, we would have met him too...grrr. I was in love with that guy, lol!!!
Now, my mom when she was in highschool in Detroit dated Tom Skerrit for a while. It's pretty cool too look at her year book and see his entry to her!! I keep teasing her she should have gotten in touch with him, lol, I'd have no problem calling him "daddy", LMAO!!!!

OH! I forgot to mention that I haven't actually met but have seen a couple of bands live a few years ago. First was Jimmy Barnes an Australia singer so most of you properly haven't heard of him, then later on in High School some friend's & I seen U2, they were the in thing in the good old school days & the best ever was Pearl Jam (OMG I loove Eddie Vedder ) :woohoo: They are touring the US at the moment & cross our fingers they will be back in Australia early next year. Unfortunatly I have to travel hours to get to a city to see a band so it hasn't happened very often :( That would be great about the States the live music would be endless, very jealous I love my music.

Hey Andrea, where I live I too have to travel hours to see a band. At least 3-4 hours to get to any of the venues that host them. Most are in the Detroit area, and that's a bit of a drive for me, so I end up settling with my cd's and radio! LOL! I haven't seen a band/performer in ages. I did see Lori Morgan at one of the casinos on Traverse City, about hours from me,lol. That was the most recent, like 5 years ago...
As a teenager, that was my concert days! LOL I have seen AC/DC, Loverboy 3 times -the same concert tour twice in one summer at different places - lol, Def Lepard and whoever opened for these bands! Ah the good old days....

The whole concert thing--I am a product of the '80s. I have seen INXS, Cheap Trick, Genesis, Yaz, Depeche Mode, Erasure, The Beach Boys, Billy Joel, REO Speedwagon, Styx and as a present to my Mom for her birthday, Barry Manilow(I went because I hove her and he is her favorite performer, but saw too many middle aged women taking their bras and panties off and throwing them on the stage EEWW)

I have attended many concerts in the past, I don't attend so much anymore, many of the artists or bands whose music I enjoy are retiring from the music business. I have seen Madonna four times ('ve enjoyed her music for over 20 years, she's my favourite performer), Phil Collins three times, Genesis w/ Phil Collins, Michael Bolton, Bette Midler twice, Kiss (a definite favourite), Paula Abdul, Aerosmith (another favourite and my husband's favourite band, they are playing a show here in Toronto in November, we will be in attendance), Bon Jovi, Richard Marx twice, Lionel Richie, Honeymoon Suite (a Canadian band too many times to count), Kim Mitchell (a Canadian performer), Glass Tiger (another Canadian band), Celine Dion five times (she's a favourite), Bonnie Raitt twice, Hall & Oates, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath (Ozzy's great), Van Halen. Think I got 'em all.

OMG Sunflower! I LOVE Honeymoon Suite!!!!! You are like the first person I have run acrosst that knows who they are! LOL Friends know their songs, but not who performs them, ya know what I mean?
Ahhh yes nice to see there are others out there who wore big hair and big shoulders too!! LMAO!! Gotta love the 80's! And how we all love the same music too....LMAO!!!
Oh yeah...
My husbands parents had Styx as the band at their wedding reception in 1969.

Hey traceann, that is so cool. HMS remains one of my faves. They are still making great music although not the original line up anymore. I remember back in the 80s a friend and I were shopping (I was a teen) in a mall and went into a drugstore and Gary Lalonde (from HMS) was in the same store shopping with his girlfriend. My friend and I followed him around the store, pretending to be looking at stuff on the store shelves and eventually he caught on that he was being followed and left the store. Once I was at a Toronto Maple Leafs hockey game and was standing at the concession counter and Mark Holmes, from the Canadian group Platinum Blonde, was in line in front of me. I still like their music too.

Hmm... I never really thought about it, but now that I do, I've "met" lots of celebrities over the years.
Anyone know who Glen Yarbrough is? I was at one of his concerts with my parents when I was 5, and he pulled me onstage for "The Mermaid Song"... I was dancing in the aisle and I guess he thought I was cute. (Not exactly an appropriate song for a 5 year old to dance to, but I had no clue what the lyrics meant at the time, LOL!)
Sean Cassidy and Parker Stevenson were filming a Hardy Boys episode in Sun Valley, ID. We were eating breakfast at the Lodge, and they were at the table next to us. Thought I would die! I was 14, and convinced that Parker was the man for me!
I too met Dennis Weaver, at the Boise airport. He signed my dad's cowboy hat, which I still have. I know- big deal... LOL!
Donny and Marie at an Albertson's booksigning, also in Boise. Still have the autographed book, why?
Clint Eastwood filmed his biggest flop, "Bronco Billy" in southern Idaho, and they used our "school" for some of the scenes. They had the "rodeo" tents set up on the school lawn. We met him, Sondra (yuck!), Geoffrey Lewis and Scatman Cruthers while they were filming. We even gave them a "Coconut Monkey" named "Clyde". (We were geeks, what can I say?!) They also used the restaurant that my brother in law managed for some scenes... Boise got pretty involved in that one.
Who else...? John Denver shook my hand, I "touched" Les, of the Bay City Rollers, at a concert and almost peed myself, tee hee!
Extreme Makeover Home Edition filmed a show here, and we met all the crew... Ty, Paul, Ed, Constance, Paige... got photos with most of them.
A friend used to be a "roadie" for Journey, so we got into one of the backstage parties, and I met Steve Perry.
I think that's it... wonder if any of them would remember me? LOL!!! We could use some of these folks to get the word out about IC. Hang on, let me find Glen's phone number...
Funny story about "not" meeting a celeb... when I was 4, they were filming "Bandolero" at Lake Havasu, I think. Anyway, mom and dad and I were there for the weekend, and they kept telling me that "Deano"(Martin)was there, and wanted to meet me. (We used to watch his TV show, I thought he was really funny!) When we got ready to head home on Sunday, I threw a screaming fit! "Deano didn't get to meet me!!! He REALLY wants to! He'll be SOOOO sad!" That's what the folks get for lying to me I guess, hee hee!
(I live in Scottsdale, AZ now, so we "see" celebs all the time... but usually it's no big deal. We saw Jessica Simpson and the gang when they stayed at the resort down the street, and there are always celebs in the eateries and clubs here.)

Oh Missy, you are the celeb girl!! LOL I would have FAINTED if I'd seen Shaun Cassidy!! I was in LOVE with him when I was like 8-9 years old...oh I even had all his 8-track tapes too...**sigh** And I too am not a big fan of Sondra LOcke, never have been, lol. And OMG the Bay City Rollers!! I loved them too....S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Hey! LOL. And oooooh is Ty as cute in person as on TV??? :) Oh cripes, listen to me!! LMAO!!!

Traceann, they have a new disc out called Lemon Tongue and it's their first studio recording in years. It's quite well done. I still have my HMS concert
t-shirts somewhere around the house. Lol, they won't fit me now, lol. I actually saw them in concert at the Hard Rock Cafe here in Toronto in 2002. They sounded better than ever. I screamed really loudly, lol. When I was a teen I used to attend their concerts with two friends from high school, Angela and Sally, and in 2002 we attended that one together, like old times. The three of us have been friends since 1984.
I've seen Glass Tiger, Journey, BonJovi, Queensryche (3 times), Fates Warning, DreamTheater, Yes (2 times), Kansas, Foreigner, Kings X (3 or 4 times), LiVE (6 times), Citizen Cope, Jimmy Wayne (2 times), Puddle of Mudd, Metallica, Danzig (ugh), Maroon 5, John Mayer, Bad Company, and I think there are more, but that's all I can think of right now!

My sister-in-law went to school with Madonna. She was good friends with her sister. Madonna was as strange in high school as she is now--hairy armpits and all !!! My husband went to college with a guy who dated her. Met John Ritter in California in a restaurant. He was the kindest, nicest person. All the things that were said about him after he died are true. Just a regular guy.

Tracey,
Ty is even CUTER! Poor Ed ended up in the ER, blisters that he poured Nyquil (?) on... a friend of my daughter's was the intake clerk. She was pretty excited! Didn't I put the link to all the Ty pics on here somewhere? If not, I'll pm you with it if you want.
I like Parker, thought Shaun was a bit too "surfer boy" but had all his albums. BCR? I wore tartan for a full year! Weren't we goofy? And our parents thought "that music" would ruin us... look at what WE have to deal with now from OUR kids! I would give my bladder for the Bay City Rollers or Shaun Cassidy at this point! LOL!
Oh- Shaun is a bit of a whiner... he was fussing 'cause his eggs weren't done right, and tried to get Parker to give up his. Didn't happen! I just remenbered, that same trip, Dorothy Hammil, and Scott Hamilton were there filming a skating special for TV. And- my son's kindergarten teacher was Scott Hamilton's cousin.
I better stop, apparantly I could go for days. It's looking like I'm telling stories here! :loco:

Missy,
I love Extreme Makeover Home Edition. I remember that episode very well--it involved a makeover with Disney rooms and while her name escapes me now made beads to raise money for cancer. I cried through the whole thing because you know that little angels are here on Earth to help us learn what is important. They surprised the family with the makeover on their house, right? She had written in about the hospital makeover(was that selfless.)
And Kim--remember Silent Lucidity? Loved that song.

Barb-
You got it! Her name is Kasandra, and she had cancer. She was treated at the Children's hospital in Tucson, and asked that the show redo the cancer ward. While the "show" and the family were in Tucson working on the ward, the rest of the crew was here, building the house.
We all wondered how you could tear down a house with NO approval from the owners? The show told the parents that they would like to do some fixing up... would that be ok? Maybe paint a bit, etc. The contract was signed, but not read too well apparantly. We saw copies, and in tee tiny print, they wrote, "Oh yeah, we might just tear it down and start over"... exact wording!
The "aired" program didn't even begin to catch the surprise and excitement when the family came home. It was amazing!

Good grief Missy, you've come across a lot of celebs in your life! Hey, I have Dennis Weaver's autograph too.
I find it interesting what bands you all have seen. Seems rock is the over-all winner so far. My list would include Little Feat -3 times (Any Little Feat fans out there?), Fleetwood Mac, Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson (Many times), Leon Russell, Bob Dylan, Ray Price, Toby Keith, Merl Haggard, and one of my favorites, the Dead.
I had tickets for the Moody Blues two years ago but couldn't make the concert so my kids went instead.

Well, My husband use to run with Billy Ray Cryus {achey breaky heart** in his teens and I went to school with his wife. Ashley Judd went to high school with me also. As you can problaly tell by now I am from Kentucky, we have alot of local talent in a small area. Loretta Lynn, Tom T Hall, Ricky Scaggs, Patty Loveless, Lori Morgan, George Clooney's family is just minuets down the Highway. Really if you did a servey per sq mile it would be amazing. Jennifer Garner was raised just across the river.{I have not seen her though** I remember when Ashley Judd was dating Michael Bolton he came with her to our Christmas parade, and her mother Naomi Judd is in town pretty often. I also saw Dean Martin once when I was very young doing a movie down our street. I know it sounds like alot but I can not tell you how many singers have been from this area so at some time or another you get to see them. Oh, yeah Chuck Woolery, his parents lived close by and we saw him at the store.
This is sort of related to this thread....I watched a Trading Spaces episode, and low and behold on one of the teams was a highschool classmate kissing and getting cozy with Doug the designer.

But I also love all kinds of music, thanks to my parents. My dad was a drummer, and when he was younger was ranked second in the country and had the nickname of "Sticks", lol. This would have been way way back when. I mean, shoot my mom was born in the early 30's and my dad was a few years older than her... so you can imagine. I love Deano, Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Etta James etc...I love country too, I'd kill to see Rascal Flatts in concert!! Oh heck, I just plain love music!!!

Hi all, I haven't really met anyone that I remember, but I did see Elvis twice in concert and he really was just as beautiful in person. My grandmother saw and talked to Minnie Pearl at Ruby Tuesday's in Columbia Tennessee and said she was just like regular folks. My mom saw George Jones eating at Morrisons cafe in the Mall in Florence, Alabama. I see Marty from the country band Diamond Rio in Walmart alot. Not a country fan,so don't know his name. But I think he is from Muscle Shoals Alabama. And do you remember the little boy in Sling Blade movie. He lives down the road in Speake Alabama and my husband friend dates his sister. You can tell that little boy is from Alabama. And let's not forget Jimmy Swaggert in the crackerBarrel in Nashville. Also no one probably remembers Robert Mitchem, big movie star in the 40's-50's, I guess. My Grandfather put gas in his cadillac convertible in Cinncinatti. He made the first Cape Fear.He played in a lot of Westerns with John Wayne. we had a man staying at the assisted living where I work, was a former DJ. He was in the studio when Elvis was recording in memphis, when he saw Natilie Wood drive up in a cadillac to see Elvis.

Hello!
I served Lindsay Wagner last summer-she was very nice.
-Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction/married to Carmen Electra) in Vancouver the night after their show and also the next day. We stood and talked the next day while their bus was being loaded. Oh yah, I met Anthony Keidis too. He was very arrogant-whatever!
-Duran Duran last spring. They were so down to earth. That was such a moment for me because I really loved them back in the 80's. I had a cd with me which they signed. They were on their way to fly out of the city and Simon (lead singer) came up to me and told me that they were on their way out. He then took my hand and said 'I will look into eyes before we leave.' I thought I was going to die. He then spoke with a little girl next to me-as he was walking away he took my hand again, squeezed it and winked. Wow!
Alana,
It sounds like Simon had a little crush on you! :)

July and Traceyann-
My friends said the same thing. You should have seen me after the 'encounter'! Actually, we had third row center tickets. You know how it is when you're at a concert and it seems that you get eye contact with band members? Well, I thought that simon was looking at me-then my friend noticed the same thing. Later in the evening i was dancing a way and i saw that simon was watching me! I just froze in spot, with my hair over my face..i would have loved to see the expression on my face. Oh it was a night to remember! We were staying at the hotel across from the venue (we really treated ourselves it was $200 a night!) I found out from the desk clerk that bands stay there and that Duran was suppose to stay, but their plans changed. Too bad!
After feeling so terrible for the past year, this was such a highlight for me. I know.....I am a groupie! lol! It was fun though!

Don't know if anyone is a big football fan, but if you are, Ron Lott, he played for the 49ers. (He's retired now) I went to high school with him in California.

Hi...I have never met anyone famous unless you consider professional hockey players famous. There I know a few.
Now my mom has met Michael Langdon (i think that is his last name) from Little House in the Prairie. She was in California and they where at the horse races. I guess he owned horses. Anyway there where a bunch of them down there on vacation. One guy knew that mom LOVED Michael Langdon and so he (not a shy person at all) went over and explained the situation to Michael. Anyway next thing Michael Langdon was behind mom tapping her on the shoulder, introduced himself, chatted a bit and then left. My dad said mom has never looked so "shocked" in all her life. She said nothing, just sat there in a blurrr. We still laugh about that.

TraceAnn-
My encounter happened on March 8, 2005....I'll let you know when our wedding will be. You are all invited! lol!
It was a great moment-especially when you have loved the band (most of all Simon) for over 20 years. They all looked great! My friends who were with me said that while he was holding my hand and gazing I was softly saying "Ohhhhhhhh..." Now I don't remember this and don't totally believe them.
John Taylor walked by us and shook hands and chatted. As he walked by my friend he was walking along shaking hands and he accidentally (or was it???) grabbed her breast! He turned and looked at her and quickly removed his hand. Too funny.
It has been such a crappy year for me with all of the extreme pain from endo/IC. I danced all night (2+ hours) eventhough I felt crappy. After I met them (this has been a life long goal...truly I really loved them back in the day!) I turned to one of my friends and I started to cry a little. I had such a great time, met them, and I was so sick. Oh yes, and Simon liked me! Childish I know, but I felt like I was 15 again!

I can't believe I forgot about my favorite celebrity... he'd kill me! Guess it's because I "forget" he's famous, LOL.
If any of you are into horse racing, you'll know who Gary Stevens is... we went to school together, 3'd grade to graduation. He's won the Kentucky Derby three times now. He was also in the movie "Seabiscuit". Not bad for a little guy from Boise, Idaho!
Ok, that's it, I think I'm finally out of stories...

I met a cpl ppl, the (now former) bass player from Styx (my favorite band everrrrrrrr!), Anita Baker, a cpl of local news casters, the old heavy band White Zombie. Cant remember any others off the top of my head. Not much of a memory on me lol!!!!
Hey Windwalker,
I posted this earlier on this thread, but when I saw you love Styx, I had to tell you that my husband's parents had Styx as the band at their wedding reception. (I'm not sure if you read my earlier post). This was in 1969. This was their last wedding reception before they made it big time! (Obviously, my hubby was not there. He didn't come around until a few years later.). I'm going to ask them if they have any pictures of the band in their wedding album.

Hi, yea I saw that!!!! That was too cool! Been a fan since 1980, got my husband into them too, he didnt like them much but saw them in concert when they still had Dennis DeYoung and was just amazed w/the sound, the show and the crowd's excitement. Hubby plays guitar in a local cover band so he knows music and just went on and on about them for days after LOL!!!!

"Welcome to the Grand Illusion come on and see what's happening...." LOL. Another Styx fan here...
Alana that sounds like absolutely soooooo much fun, isn't that all of our dreams? To be noticed by the "one"?? The one celeb that you have loved for ages?? **sigh** Now, if I could just get Tyler Florence to cook for me, and Michael Vartan ("Alias") to go undercover(s) with me!! LMAO!!!!!! :) Too funny...
Hugs!!

I live 2 miles away where they made the movie 8 mile.. but it actually gets better... When I got Married.. and we were broke we lived in the trailer park (Continnental Mobile Homes) where it was made.. if we had still lived there it would all happened out my front door.. Well hubby and I divorced and he moved back into the trailer park, and he walked down to see the set, but of course it was like tring to walk into fort knox.... There have been several Movies that had been made out of the Detriot metro city area.

Oh how fun is that! Our area has only a couple claims to fame...and not even near me, LMAO!! The movie Somewhere In Time was filmed on Mackinac Island (all us Michiganders know that, lol) and the Alpeana Airport was used for the airport/runway scenes in the last Diehard (one word, or 2?? - LMAO!) film....nothing close to me...bummer.

I love this!!! What a great string to start! :) Well, I met Jimmy Carter when he was campaigning before he was elected. I was about 17 at the time. I know the jury is out on his presidency, but I remember knowing there was something quite spiritual about him. He was gentle and gave everyone a genuine smile.......not like some of the fake pleasantries we often see from polititians (of both political parties)> Again, what a great idea for a string!

Speaking of politicians, I've worked in DC so I've met more than I can count. And journalists: Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, Bob Scheiffer, Charlie Gibson (the latter 2 are very nice), etc. Hmm. Some soap stars, too, on CBS shows. Had dinner with Patty Duke once. We laughed our heads off because the service was horrible, then went dancing with some crew members from a miniseries she was shooting. Went to college with Sela Ward; she was a cheerleader with my roommate. Oh, yeah, I forgot! I met Mark Hamill right after Star Wars, he came over to our table and joined us for a drink in NYC one night, cause he knew a guy we were having dinner with. He had this cute picture of his son in a Luke Skywalker outfit. That's all I can think of right now.

We live in a tourist destination that has both a film festival and a summer theater festival. During the summer, the town is filled with famous film and television folks. It's pretty wild...my husband saw Steven Webber (Wings) at Radio Shack. Bradley Whitford stood in front of me in line at the Fourth of July celebration the summer before last. Marisa Tomei was at the ice cream shop. It's surreal, but it's very common to see famous people standing next to you at the grocery store. It happens to me all the time! My sister-in-law was visiting this summer and thought I was exagerating (sp?) until I took her grocery shopping and she found herself standing next to one of her favorite actors. The look on her face was priceless!

They're always filming movies and TV shows around the city as well as The Toronto International Film Festival in September, but I have personally never met a famous person. That may be because, if you're downtown, you're pretty much not on the look-out for famous faces, they pretty much blend in.
My dad has met a lot a famous people, at his work (the airport) such as Wayne Gretzky, Bryan Adams and the Priminister of Canada, but he doesn't follow the entertainment world so who knows how many celebs he served that he was oblivious to their fame :lmao:
