This may come across as sounding odd, however I'd like to know if anyone feels like theyre always "holding it"?
thanks

Yup, I never feel empty anymore. I think it is because my bladder capacity is so small now as well.

yes, I know that feeling well. The feeling increases to a point where I believe it and go ....I don't believe my bladder shrunk too bad since I do ok at night (maybe so used to that feeling all day???) For me I think it is in part from the dammaged gag layer and that bladder spasms are often but not painful in me. Not that capacity or shrunken bladder wouldn't play a part and considering how long I have had this I suspect it may contribute too. Anyway, your not alone.

Same feeling for me, I always feel like I am "holding it". Good way to describe it!

Yes, of course. Doesn't everyone with IC have that feeling?

I always have that feeling--I don't even remember what it's like to NOT feel like I gotta go.....

Thank ya'll for replying. I constantly feel like i'm in a state of "holding it". Its so frustrating. And like *bama_girl*, I too dont know what it feels like anymore to NOT feel like I need to void. When I told my uro this (i recently fired my uro and am in the process of finding a new one) he looked at me as if I was crazy. I guess if I'm "crazy" darn near everyone else with bladder issues is crazy too--its good to travel in numbers..haha..
Again, thanks for the replies.
Unfortunately, its nice to know I'm not alone, and more importantly, not crazy.
stay well!

I know the feeling well. I just hate the fact that I am always aware of my bladder. My mom and sister often say "just think about something else".That's easy for them. They don't have IC.

My mother in law seems to think the same thing. I have posted about some of her craziness so I will not subject anyone to the long, sordid tale. The comment, just think about something else or hey, maybe if you went to work out you could deal with this better. Right, NOT!! Walk a mile in our shoes and then make a comment.

I have that same feeling also. I wish for just one day I could feel normal again.

Yeah, I'm not really sure about the "bladder retraining" concept either. My bladder wasn't much better behaved afterwards. I think it just trained ME to ignore it...

My doctor suggested to me to "retrain my bladder" I have been trying it during the day but it's really hard. I feel like I am holding it ALL day long. Since I have the urgency all day long it is so hard. It has helped me a little at night though. I have been only waking up once instead of four times and sometimes I wake up and I am able to hold it and go back to sleep. Not every time though.
